What Is One Thing All Your Stories Have In Common?

The protagonist starts from a weak beginning, as a nobody, and works themselves up to power/leadership. Also shields. There's always some sort of shielding somewhere in it.

What made me unhappy today ?

Stomach bug, so I didn't have the energy to work on my chapter, or do much except lounge around. I so hate being confined to a bed/couch all the time.

    Today I learned...

That only ~100 drones (male honey bees) are allowed in a hive with upwards of 60k worker bees (females). And that they don't do ANYTHING the worker bees do. Their sole purpose in life is to fertilize Her Majesty, the Queen. And come winter the worker bees kick them out because they just hang...

    Digital Minimalism Discussion Thread

I still remember the times of physical dvds and CDs. And my bad, bad brother who burned a movie to a DVD for me he'd bought, and smuggled it into the house because it was an 18+ movie (not in the romance department, though). Those were the good old days when you could actually own something, and...

The notebook is interesting! Someone also mentioned treating their computer like a pet that must sleep. I think I'll jointly try those two. It's, unfortunately, not quite so convenient for me to transfer articles or anything to my Kindle. It's an old 7th Gen I got as a present from my sister...

    Digital Minimalism Discussion Thread

TL;DR - I would love to cut down even more on internet use. Or my phone in general. Or simply use it for an e-reader. Easier said than done. I'm torn between being on social media, any kind, even forums, and using fiction reading for the lonely feeling I have. Fiction lessens loneliness in...

Writing Challenge: Write a six-word story

The crow sang; the moon fell. (Lol. Halp.)

Do you have a hard time imagining people's faces based on descriptions?

All the guys look the same there. Just make sure you add the six pack.

Do you have a hard time imagining people's faces based on descriptions?

I double recommend this. I have her whole series.

What new word did you learn today?

Yes, but in this series humans are more advanced in their understanding of numbers and the universe than the aliens. Humans were the "invaders" to a "primitive" society. By the time they arrived, the aliens had just invented steam. And it causes a whole lot of nuance between the two species...

What new word did you learn today?

I just put in the short version but yes. It's used a lot in the Foreigner series because the alien species are avid numerologists who think the right numbers govern good fortune. =P

What made me unhappy today ?

So much for service in the country. When you have enough money it seems customer service isn't a priority anymore. Nice to meet you =)

    What made me happy today?

Also, our tomato plants are flourishing. We've started picking and dicing and freezing to make chutney later.

What made me unhappy today ?

I'm not surprised I feel more comfortable on forums TBH. They're part of the old internet I remember. It's a shame so few of them are still active. Anyhoo, I mostly read/write sci-fi, fantasy, a little mystery since getting my job. A little romance, if it's friendship-based which is scarce...

    What made me happy today?

I finished it at the beginning of the year. I really loved all the stories (The only character I didn't love was Martin the crazy poet), but I won't spoil my thoughts of the ending for you. With all the dense prose, I can understand why you would want something different. I'm reading a...
