Day 236: Beta Readers and Collaboration Forum

Day 236 + one month - on the countdown to 500 members - we are currently at 481

More to the point, as I type this, we have 17 members shown as logged in (over the last 10 mins?). It hasn't been that high in years. The OG barely got above 10 in the last days.

We get a solid 70 visitors a day. The pool for that is probably a bit around 100. I'm wondering what kind of data Xenforo can export on that. I've got Excel and all my data analysis skills collecting dust. Not that you'll find a speck of dust in my house these days.

That would be all of it. Very interesting. The membership is top heavy, but we knew that already. The top 10 members account more than half the total content. 200 members have never posted, and only roughly 150 members have made ten or more. Not sure if that's a large number or a small number... probably about right.

I'm looking at registration dates now. Lots of interesting stuff that will take a minute to analyze. What jumps out to me if that within the context of the 70ish users who visit each day, a total of 132 different members have visited in the last week, 170 in the last two weeks, and 224 in the last month. See how quickly that scales off? It basically says we have the same members visiting everyday. Probably right around 100 people that are frequent flyers, for lack of a better term. That 65 - 75 users online never changes so a likely pool of around 100 people sounds about right.

Of course, who qualifies a "user online" and who qualifies as performing "last activity" might not follow each other 100%, so there's a chance there are two different things being recorded.

Huh. Lots and lots of interesting shit here... now if I only knew what I was looking for.

I think last activity and user online is someone who did something in the last 10-15 mins? I've seen people's names on the members online list drop off after that period of inactivity. I guess it's probably configurable somewhere.

It's not like I stalk people, or anything.

I think "latest activity" is only recorded via an action. Seemingly, responding or reacting. Online might just be online. Like if I keep Baby Billy logged in on a separate tab and never have him do anything, he will be recorded as recently online not having performed a recent activity. I'll experiment with that.

The disconnect, if one exists, would likely be due to the "24 hour" box being an addon that tracks its own stuff independently of the Xenforo software. I don't see anything in the Xenforo reports about users online... only when they've performed an activity. Could be two systems looking at the same thing from a slightly different angle.
