Welcome to the November Writing Thing signup sheet! Feel free to post about your goals for the challenge, including the intended wordcount of 15K, 25K, and 50K. Signup is not required for participation but we'd like to gauge potential interest to better serve the community in the future. And the more participants, the more encouragement to soldier through what can be a very arduous challenge.

Please reference the FAQ thread for rules and questions.

Once live in November, please reference the Word Count thread for updates on your progress.

I'm aiming for 15K words. I'm veeeery tempted to try 25K because I like a challenge, but I just don't have enough ideas right now and don't want to burn out on the story like I did last time by writing a load of pointless scenes. But who knows, if things go well I may update my word count. Edit: updated to 25K.

Really looking forward to November!

I've decided I'm gonna be working on the prequel to one of my main series. Not only is that a super fun project, I'd also be furthering the franchise. I already have a bit written for it, plus I can lean on the established world building and lore. With that in mind, and knowing I'll have plenty of time in November, 50K feels manageable. Really hyped for this!

I'm signing up for 15k on a project I'm already working on. This might get my gears turning, it's worth a try. 500 words a day should be doable if I just manage to actually sit down. When I do sit down I can usually do more. But not everyday is the same. And I may not write during the weekends. (Will depend.)

We who are about to write, salute you.

Earlier this month, I submitted book synopses for consideration when John the Agent and John the Publisher were working out details of a new book contract. I've done a considerable amount of research for Book A, but haven't actually begun to write it. After some discussion, we decided to go with a Book B first and Book A second. Ergo, NWT provides a perfect way to switch my horses in midstream. I'll have 18 months after signing the contract to complete the book, so I need to hit the ground running.

I was venting my frustration of Google Doc not having a wordcount tracker function and @Rzero shared with me a spreadsheet he uses that he programmed to automatically calculate progress (in percentages) from your wordcount goal!

I'm still customizing what he sent me to fit my own project(s), but how about using something like that?
Anyway, I was thinking maybe we could also have a signature line for NWT with our current word count if we wanted
I like the idea of stating our word count in our signature, but I would say just use regular font and size
Y'all go ahead. I'm too lazy to change my signature daily.
Like, having a link to the excel sheet here and in our signatures, each participant having a tab on the excel, and voilà! wordcount tracker and everyone can keep up with eachothers progress!

I'm going to try for the 50K. It's too bad we're not going doing this in January or February when I'm "retired" and will be sitting around eating Bon Bons all day.

Not sure what I'm going to do yet, but I think I'm going to expand the Workshop post a I wrote directly on the forum without thinking. I had another novel idea that I think I can work into what I started there. Not 100% yet. I'm fairly optimistic I can hit the target, though the finished product will be longer than 50K, no doubt. Now that I'm "retiring" my mental real estate is slowly regenerating.
