I joined the old forum sometime around 2011. I spent a LOT of time lurking, and posted moderately around 2012-2014. I'm active duty US military and have been deployed on and off since that point so any free time I had was focused on family and writing. When I got the notice the website was shutting down / moving I knee deep in world building my latest novel and thought I'd check things out again. It just took me a little bit to find the time.

I've been writing most of my life. I started my first novel (never finished) in 1995. I still have it saved on my computer and I read it every once in a while to keep me humble (it's REALLY bad). I've been writing scenes, stories, plots, novellas, and a even few complete novels, since then. Sadly, I've never felt any of those were good enough for publishing. BUT, now I feel I've found the story that needs not just to be written, but shared.

The latest novel has a working title of "The Maker's Regret." It's somewhere between epic fantasy and grimdark fantasy. In my world, faces can be carved into things, and when done properly, those things come to life. This magic is publicly considered evil and using it receives a sentence of death. Enora (protagonist) accidentally creates a creature (Carric) with that magic and he becomes her best friend. For years they live happily in secret until someone discovers Carric and they have to run. The novel deals with the responsibility and consequences of powerful magic and with the greater question of the "Wizard's 2nd Rule" (for those Goodkind fans), "The greatest harm can result from the best intentions." In the end, Enora wonders if her actions have made it better or worse. I'm looking forward to sharing parts of the novel with you as I write. Nice to meet you all!
