Amazon ISBN

Hey again. So, I'm currently in a kerfuffle with Amazon because I changed the paper from white to creme, and now Amazon thinks my ISBN is already in use, even though I'm still in the pre-publishing phase.
I have had a nice chat with Ana Beatriz and she advised me to assign a free Amazon ISBN to my book to free up my own ISBN, and then publish the book with the creme pages under my own ISBN.
I see no way this won't end in tears, but that's not why I'm calling.

I assigned that free Amazon ISBN and it really kinda just looks like any other ISBN. Since in the Netherlands the cheapest I can get a batch of ten ISBNs for 300 euros, I wanna double check: Is that Amazon ISBN the ISBN we're always warned not to use, or could I get myself an Amazon assigned ISBN and also use it on IngramSpark?

if anyone other than the official isbn depository for your country assigns you an isbn, its registered to them as publisher of record so you can't use it anywhere else... there's no problem with using it on amazon, but you'll need your own for ingram spark (assuming print of course - isbns aren't essential for ebooks)
