Very pleased and excited to have my story Beyond the Sea published in this award-winning science fiction magazine. And my story is the first one on their front page, and in the downloadable PDF version to boot !

This story only exists because of a contest prompt, as with the majority of my shorts. I say, enter the forum contests !

Cool. What was the contest prompt?

It was a .com prompt for their Literary Maneuvers challenge: The Glass Sea. I still remember it because I was I was one of the judges. Let me go and fetch the score... Hmmm, seems like I gave it a 20/20. Looks like I was quite impressed.

One very notable thing that I still remember is questioning how it tied with the prompt because they were in hot lava-like liquids, which doesn't sound very sea-like to me. I mean, come on, I'm from Greece!

But there were chemicals mentioned. And then I had a realization. I looked them up to find that the lava was molten glass. So, a literal glass sea. That impressed me greatly. So did the religious metaphor.

I just loved the whole thing. It's no wonder it got published. By the way, it also won the competition! There were 18 other contestants.
