Engaging with fellow writers on Twitter/X?

When I post something, sure as onions I'll get people sending me posts, saying things like 'Hi!' and/or praising my posts or books or what have you. I really would love to engage with them but a lot of times they're just selling their services. How do you separate the wheat from the chaff, so to speak? Do any of you send similar posts like the aforementioned?

I'd love to get your thoughts on this.

I'm not on there yet, so I don't have anything valuable to add, other than the observation that amateur/indie authors probably see more advertising for services than readers see marketing for indie books.

i became active on X the beginning of the year (or end of last year...)
i had one way before, but only made it because a magazine i was published in wanted to tag their writers, so i made one for that purpose.
anywho... i dont have followers (not a lot) but the majority are promoters and bots. the few on there, i see regularily posting in the writing hashtags and groups. I respond to their posts. they dont always respond to me. I dont post much, but sometimes someone from one of those groups will boost my post.
I'm still relatively new and i primarily stay in the "writers" group. Oddly enough, my news feed are all UK and Canadian people

I follow failed sci-fi writer Patrick S. Tomlinson for the lulz. That's pretty much it. Every single reply I get is Enjoy prison stalker child.

My experience with Twitter is many years in my past, but as far as getting people to share your content and stuff it was entirely reciprocal and usually writer to writer. Perhaps if I'd stuck with it it would've gotten better but I found it to be annoying and pointless and didn't stay long at all. It wasn't worth the hassle for me.
