Explain your Username and Icon!

The "profile name" I created for Halo: Combat Evolved back in the early 2000s was 2die4. I was trying for something short and which looked cool whenever it was displayed. When I joined my first message board, a Warhammer 40k forum which no longer exists, I decided to stick with the number + word phrase and settled on Bone2pick.

My avatar is a headshot of Boss Godfrey from Cool Hand Luke.

I am being "very unwise" and using part of my real name. Allan is my name, and I am a writer.
I am a history nerd (and science nerd and a few other kinds) so my icon is one of my favorite places in the world. The Temple of Hera at Paestum.
Oh, nice! What eras of history do you love? I adore Ancient Rome and WWII.

I usually just pick the first word that springs to mind when choosing handles, which can lead to some interesting names if I'm getting frustrated with a sign up process! This is my old name though from the previous forum and I was sat with my dog when signing up... I looked at him, he looked at me, Woof! I am a simple beast. The current picture is Woof! from Roger Hargreaves' Timbuctoo but I have been Basil Brush and also used photos of my own collies. I'll likely change it again before I get comfy with it.

Found the picture online, I was actually taking it to the hairdresser to visually explain what kind of details I wanted in a haircut (not exactly how it turned out in the end but wasn't bad, and I need a new hairstyle these days). The username is shortened from the previous one in WFs, in my native language it could be (somewhat accidental) reference to a well-known short story but it doesn't translate to English as much.

Homer Potvin is a distant relative of mine. My mother told me it would make a great pen name when I started writing in my teens. As for the Nelson avatar, it popped into my head when I registered for the OG and kind of stuck. I have a folder with like 30 Nelson pics that I've rotated through over the years. As for the EVH banner, I'm a guitar nut and just popped it in there to test the banner function when we build the new joint. I might keep it? The look on his face is hilarious, though not always visible.

Baby Billy is character from The Righteous Gemstones, which if hilarious if you've never seen it. It's about a family rich televangelists, also with John Goodman and Danny McBride. Pretty much what you'd expect from an HBO show... I haven't finished it yet, so no spoilers, please. The "running through the house with a pickle in my mouth" is from a religious song he sings about mischievous children trying to avoid Satan. It's pee your pants funny.

The actor, Walter Groggins, also starred in the Fallout show as ghoul badass and cowboy. He's in a few other things too. Brilliant.

Hammer was a great, great, great uncle. He was the captain of a whaling ship but has a name which lends itself very well to a a forum username

The avatar is a duck. He has no significance, but was just sitting in my garden one day watching me (proving that I don't suffer from Anatidaephobia, the duck was watching me...)

Oh shit, a Farside reference. Best comic ever. The one with the T-rexes is still my favorite:

I used to be in the lumber sales division of a building supply company. I had a vanity license plate made that said SELLUWUD in order to announce my profession. I later decided to discontinue the license plate because my driving is so bad that it would be easy to remember my plate if reported. My avatar represents a recent open-heart surgery that I had done and also a book that was inspired by the surgery. I used that image for the front cover of “A.I.M Of Intelligence: Heart Of Peace”

I'm sorry you had to have heart surgery. The license plate and why you got rid of it is hilarious though. Felt the need to explain my laugh react.
