Explain your Username and Icon!

I didn't want to be an old crone anymore so I had some work done...

Seriously, though, this is Hedy Lamarr, who invented a frequency-hopping spread spectrum communication system, laying the foundation for modern wireless communication technologies like Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth.

Yay to female scientists!
I thought that's who it was! A classic, in so many ways.

Username is from one of my favorite Shakespeare plays. Dogberry being the captain of the watch. His dialogue had me in stitches when I was younger, and I love him. My avatar is my bookshelf and a chair I got when I first bought my house. And the banner is a spread from one of my story journals for the series I'm writing.

DollDivine has a new "Swingin Sixties" dress up creator.

So i made me as a 60's era librarian.
(fun fact! I actually own the items the avatar is wearing lol, although instead of a dress, I have wide-leg slacks in that same pattern in color)

Love it. I look forward to your avatar changes.

My favorite oh-so-conservative forensics competition outfit, circa 1971, looked almost exactly like that except the jumper was a tweedy blue and the turtleneck was navy blue. The jumper was also about six or eight inches shorter than in the picture.

Thundair was a mix of thunder and the ozone-laden air after a storm. For eight years I had a water purification company that treated water with ozone. Water parks, the San Diego Zoo and cooling towers.
The icon is just a pic I had for one of my novels.

I hope you've seen Joss Whedon's version of Much Ado. Nathan Fillion plays Dogberry and is just perfect in the role... much better than Michael Keaton's performance in the Branagh version, since he didn't play the character as broadly.

Wandered over to mark it for watching at a later date and discovered Nathan Fillion and I share a birthday, albeit 16 years apart. I loved Firefly. Since I don't have a television, I never heard of it until a friend shared the movie Serenity with me. I liked it so well that I stopped at a bookstore to buy it and discovered there'd been a series. I bought the series, too, and have watched it many times. Why on earth they wanted to cancel it is beyond me.

Coaxed off topic again. Blame JLT. It's his fault.

Kintsu Kuroi (or Kintsugi) is the japanese art of fixing broken pottery with lacquer mixed with gold. The metaphor is that a person can become beautiful after having been broken. It shows my life before writing, and how writing has made me a happier, and more complete person, after a lifetime of trauma.

The avatar was something I threw together using canva, and the green circle in the middle is a green pot which has been broken, and fixed back together with gold.

K

I think of the various scars on my body in the same way, and regret that so many people are reluctant to show the scars on their bodies in their choice of swimwear and other clothing. To me, the scars are not defects, but emblems of their will to survive and enjoy life.

Exactly.
Our scars, mental and physical, shape us into the people we become, and if you can let go of the past and create your future, you are on the way to a much better, much happier you, and you lose your bullies and abusers, as they realise they no longer have power over you.
And that's all I have to say about it, because... I'm living in the future now :)

If my life's goal was to hide physical scars, I'd have to wear a burka and face veil. ;)

Once upon a time, I met a girl whose boyfriend has dumped her after she was in an automobile accident that result in a long scar on one calf. He told her that her physical perfection was what originally attracted him, and since she wasn't perfect anymore, the relationship was at an end. I thought then, and think now, that the scar on her leg was quite possibly the best thing that ever happened to her. Talk about dodging a bullet shaped like a boyfriend...

I hope she lives Happily Ever After :)
