Revenue

Was that because granddaddy made moonshine ? ( they used to call the revenue men hammerheads because of the big hammers they used on barrels). Anyone else have copperhead road playing in their heads about now ?

“ you rarely ever saw granddaddy round here, barely came to town twice a year, buy a 100 ponds of yeast and some copper line, everyone knew he made moonshine”

I didn't know revenuers were called hammerheads. How interesting. As far as I know, Granddaddy was the engineer at the city power and light company and raised cattle on the side, BUT! his paternal grandmother's family had the only liquor license for two or three counties in southwestern Arkansas before the state prohibition went into effect in 1915. Since they continued to prosper, I suspect running, not making, liquor continued to fund family coffers
