Hello again, after more than half a decade.

Hello, I'm Andrew. I was a member from the old forum, as many, and in fact managed to write a book thanks to the help, critique and overall support and resources received from the members, so, despite the long time no see, I've kept this effort in a very high regard. Glad to see old names too, even if I didn't write profusely - my English is still terrible though, specially the creative part.

I'll do my best to provide critique as a reader, and hope that, some day, I can repeat the goal of writing another story. The world has changed a lot since then, specially considering the advent of AI. But even so, I don't want to forego the human warmth, fire at times, that criticism imprints in our efforts. Thank you for providing the place for it.

Welcome! What do you like to read and write?

Half a decade is nothing in the writing field. ;)
You're absolutely right, time flies while writing, and some ideas are written after decades long in the inkpot. I would like to know about what you like to read and write too. 😁

I like to read historical fiction, alike 'Taras Bulba', or 'By Fire and Sword' and 'The Deluge' sorts of literature, but I also like to read philosophical texts often, from Enchiridion to Seneca's letters, to Thirty Six Stratagems... lately I've been hooked with media about the Imjin War, though, so it's more watching series and movies than reading.

As for writing, I wrote fiction about detectives and gangsters, though I did enjoy to write a little story about an alien cyborg sheep trying to become a proper farm animal. I'm intrigued about the ways characters can reshape themselves through skill and choice, sometimes even against their talents and nature.

History can be a great inspiration for stories. They can also be a great way to ground one's own stories in reality.

I read and write mostly science fiction. Right now I'm reading Hyperion... been at it for 2 years. Not because it's bad, but because I often need to take breaks. My mind can get too stimulated from reading things. Or I just get mentally exhausted quickly as well.

My writing suffers as well. I have great issues with just sitting down in front of the laptop to write. But when I manage to I can usually cram out a few hundred to thousands of words.

Currently working on three projects set in the same universe that has a blend of gods, dragons, immortals, mortals, spaceships, war, and love.
