Is there any reason NOT to do Kobo Plus if you’re going wide?

Basically the title.

As some of you may recall, I’ve been working on standalone reprints of three novelettes. The anthologies they were originally published in all went wide, so they’re not eligible for Kindle Unlimited. Over the last few months of 2025, I launched them on Amazon; now, I’m going wide through Draft2Digital.

One of the options when choosing distributors is to make the book available through Kobo Plus. Looking up the program, it seems like a non-exclusive version of KU. I couldn’t find any downsides, but I’m also a total novice when it comes to self-publishing, so I’d love to hear from other authors who have some experience with them. What do you consider the pros and cons?

Yeah, there aren't any downsides, as you say. If you're already wide, go as wide as you can. Kobo's my second-best sales platform for the one book I've self-published, but of course Amazon has made up the vast majority of my sales.

Probably the best pro outside of the subscription option is that they put your book up EVERYWHERE. Whether or not that will translate to sales, who can say. All I know is that if you don't put your book out there, no one will ever see it. But if you do go wide, well, a world of (albeit unlikely) possibilities opens up.
