It Began in a Tavern - Character Index

Name: Eirini

Sex: Female

Social Class: Mage

Age in human years (must be 18): 12 (age okay because she is a background character)

A brief description of appearance: (no pictures, please.)
Eirini has brown-shaded black hair and chestnut eyes. She is often dressed with glossy white silken robes because her parents are well-off.

Background:
As the daughter of two sages, she enjoyed great social benefits. But she often felt overwhelming sadness when she encountered those who didn't. Her parents did not appreciate her feelings and often taught her the "proper" ways of the world, often by forcing her to perform cruelty unbecoming of her. But every cruel act she commited, she felt back ten fold.

She did not understand why mages had to treat non-mages in such terrible ways, and made childish ambitions to change the world. She was later killed by one of her family's slaves, Myrto. She lived until the age of twelve.

Yuuna, in recognition of her genuine ambitions, reincarnated her as Sophia a thousand years later.

Name: Myrto

Sex: Female

Social Class: Slave

Age in human years (must be 18): 14 (age okay because she is a background character)

A brief description of appearance: (no pictures, please.)
Myrto has a very thin and sickly appearance. Her brown hair is wiry and messy. The long days she spent in the sun as a slave greatly darkened her skin tone. Most of the time, she wears a sleeveless brown-colored tunic, which is quite tattered.

Background:
Myrto was born into slavery at the Southern Peninsula. She was not legally a person, but property of a master, and had zero legal rights. Her own mother was frail and physically unwell, especially during the winter months. She struggled to perform the same amount of work as other slaves, and was often punished for it. Often by being beaten into action, other times by unspeakable acts that Myrto erased from her memory to protect her sanity.

She spent her childhood being resold over and over alongside her frail mother because their owners were not quite satisfied with her performance even after extensive "discipline" and punishment. Some masters were better than others, but none saw them as human.

Kurai used her internal anger and tricked her into turning violent. He also modified her psyche so it would be reborn a thousand years later as a mage. She was later reincarnated as Melina.

Name: Melina

Sex: Female

Social Class: Royal/Mage

Age in human years (must be 18): 40

A brief description of appearance: Melina maintains a slender but well-fit build to support her love for battle. She has red colored hair, brown eyes, and brunette skin. She dresses like a queen on most days, but like a warrior in heavy dark-colored steel armor when she trains or leads various battles. She has the emblem of a cobalt crescent moon fixed to her armour.

Magic Style: Melina is an earth-style mage, specializing in Earthquake magic. Nobody knows how her magic works because it should (by most common knowledge) be impossible to cause Earthquakes of those scales with magic.

Background: Melina grew up alongside her brother Arthur and The King. She also had an unnamed mother.

She loved magic from childhood, but the activities her father set out for her did not leave her with much time to practise. She dreamed of becoming a great mage and admired a female warrior from the one of the scriptures—The Scroll of Kurai.

Ultimately, her brother was set up to take the throne, and she was arranged to marry. This changed when an ancient spirit appeared and informed her that she was the warrior she admired. He helped her see the real power within her, which she used to sink the castle, kill everyone within it, and take the throne for herself.

At present, she plots with Kurai to find every gear fragment.

Background:

Arthur is Queen Melina’s brother. Twenty years earlier, she tried to kill him by having the walls come tumbling in, and then stole his Crown. He escaped and built a new life for himself in the countryside, living an anonymous life with his new family, including his wife Joan and several children. Then, he is called to his destiny by the Alphabet Society to help save existence by prevailing over the sister who wronged him so cruelly all those years ago. He fights these worst impulses in himself.

Araspeth is the daughter of Gamma (the mage of autumn time) of the Alphabet Society. The ghosts are awakened in the presence of the High Mage Hemios and the High Scientist Barnabas, while a Royal - Arthur - plays the violin, as it was ordained in the Scriptures. These ghosts have an important role to play in the final battle of good and evil. They contain the light of goodness.

Name: Penelope

Sex: Female

Social Class: Mage

Age in human years (must be 18): 22 (at the time of freezing)

A brief description of appearance: (no pictures, please.):
She is a very fit woman of average height. Her hair is black but with a strong chestnut shade to it. It's short and reaches only a little further than the base of her hair. Her eyes are brown with a very notable golden tint to them.

Background:
Even from a young age, Penelope was extremely adventurous, brave and powerful. She mastered a fire style from the young age of eight, and went on to evolve it to an explosive fire style by the time she was 18—something she received much praise for. Many considered her to be a prodigy and had full confidence that she'd reach sage-hood at a later age.

Her passion was to help the world and make it into a better place through justice using her strength and wit. Her mother, who was a military mage for the Southern Peninsula, admired her passion but found her to be quite foolish and naive. When she enrolled Penelope to the military, she hoped that her illusions would shatter when she would inevitably face the reality of the world.

But this made everything worse. Penelope lost all faith in her mother for her willful contributions to the military and fled her home in hopes that she would carve her own path to that dream. She had ambitions of crushing her homeland's corrupt state and millitary and reforming everything. She helped many people during her travels and did indeed make a difference in people's lives. The dangers she faced did not matter. She always stood up to face them even when she was at a disadvantage.

Everything changed when she came across the scriptures during a village visit. She became deeply fascinated by the Book of Embers, Scroll of Kurai, and Scroll of Yuuna. She spent her spare time studying them, initially thinking that it was all just legend, but she slowly started to understand that the opposite was true.

True to her genius, she eventually decoded most of it, and came to understand that Kurai was a manipulative shadow lurking within humanity. She studied further to find a way to destroy Kurai. But found that spirits are pretty much impossible to "destroy". Her only hope was to seal him inside a vile with the use of an Old Spell. She studied them extensively but found no feasible way to cast one.

This changed when the spirit of winter time visisted her in recognition of her efforts. She helped her write the Old Spell, and she also helped her formulate a plan on how she would confront Kurai. The two eventually set out on that mission, which ultimately ended in disaster when Kurai literally ate Penelope's soul. Kori could only seal her body in amber and ran away.
