It Began in a Tavern (OOC Thread) (Part 2)

@ps102 - just to clarify - Yuuna will join with a human - is this human to be Olive or can it be any other human?
I am wondering this, too. I think Olive would be a good choice, but also Ravenna wouldn't be adverse to another friend in her head. Haha. But I wouldn't be surprised if Katara might be more useful.

I think if it's not Olive, it has to be someone else besides one of the three women

No, I don't think so, because they are on their own arcs.

It would have to be a new character.
True. But I just wasn't sure how this new kitty fits into the story and figured using characters we already would be better than adding more.

Yuuna is intended for Olive, yes. It's essentially the only way for Olive to perform magic correctly.

The alphabet society already discussed Olive as being a vessel for a spirit. So I assume this is the spirit they had in mind?
Yup. You got it right!

They also said that Yuuna can't just fuse with any human. The human needs to have the appropriate Ether reserves, which Olive has. There are hardly any people with the amount of raw energy she has.

This wasn't my idea—it was introduced by someone else here but I can't remember who. Regardless, it was a great idea! Little control over lots of raw power.

OH SHIT! I forgot. YES! This must be that spirit. Ugh. My brain is mush.
No worries. I don't expect anyone to remember some line I wrote three months ago, lol.

Besides, I'm also being quite secretive, so that probably doesn't help when it comes to everyone else remembering :)

Here is a character sheet on Yuuna!

Name: Yuuna

Sex: None but is referred to as "she".

Social Class: N/A (Spirit)

Age in human years (must be 18): 100+

A brief description of appearance: (no pictures, please.): Yuuna is a small cat-like spirit with crimson eyes, jet-black fur, blue whiskers, and a set of white wings.

Background: Yuuna is the spirit of light. In the scriptures, it is mentioned that "The Architect" commanded her to bring light to resolve the world's darkness. She loved the idea and came to love the world itself. She lived happily alongside the world's creatures and eventually took the appearance of a certain cat.

When humans made it into the mortal world, she and other spirits blessed them with their respective elements. At one point, Yuuna also brought music into the world and it all seemed as if happiness would prosper throughout eternity as all lived in harmony.

But when the "calamity" happened, Yuuna came to despise humans, and she and her sibling spirits went into hiding.

I'm also working on the lore right now, just writing what we have already established in the story.

What I don't quite remember is the definition of the poet class. I can't remember what it is that we agreed on this. Can someone clarify?

the definition of the poet class.

Here's what we had on the other site for the three classes:

The Mage/Scientist Classes: the highest classes of society. Those who know magic specialize in Earth, Fire, Air, or Water Magic (see Lore Thread). Those who cannot use magic, are scientists who are held in high esteem for their research.

The Poet Class: the artists and merchant class. They keep society running and entertained. Farmers are considered Poets and so are workers of all kinds.

The Lab Rat Class: Lab rats: lowest class- the outcasts and criminals of society who are used in scientific experiments. Some here have been wronged by the legal system and are sure there is a way out.

I've written the classes. It's mostly the same but I added a few extra definitions that happened after we wrote the initial classes. I'm posting it here for everyone to see. If we're all fine with it, it's "official" lore.

I'm of course happy to make modifications.

Social Classes

The world's society is class-based and is divided into several different ones that are arranged in a bottom-to-top hierarchy. The lower you are in the hierarchy, the worst you are regarded in the system.

Starting from top to bottom, these are the different available classes:

1. Royal Class
The highest class is the royal class. Monarchs rule over the country and they have the most influence over political world. As rulers, they are also well-off and profit from the efforts of all classes that is below them.
Most royals are also excellent mages. The queen in particular is regarded as the most powerful mage in the country.

2. Mage Class
Anyone who can perform magic belongs to the mage class. Mages are systematically favored over non-mages. They have overall better opportunities and are highly respected by the general population for their natural abilities to manipulate the world.
Every mage has their own particular magic style that they worked hard to develop during their lifetime. Some mages have highly complex styles and are regarded as sages.

A sage is a highly experienced mage with usually decades of practice and improvement under their belts. Their magic styles are usually complex, highly specialized, and highly valued. There almost none young sages.

3. Scientist Class
Although a number lower, the scientist class is mostly equal to the mage class. Scientists are mostly regarded for their research. Their work can range from studies about how the world works, to how magic itself works. The physiological difference between mages and non-mages is an example field of study.

Science was not always held in high regard. But over the years, the value of knowledge increased and became recognized even by the government, which used to place all of its faith in magic. Queen Melina was the monarch who changed this and officially recognized science as an official, and highly valuable, position in society.

4. Poet Class
Poets include artists, merchants, farmers, and workers of any kind that do not fall into the above classes. They're the workforce that keep society running.

They're less respected socially and are usually paid less for their work. It is not terribly uncommon for a poet to become highly respected. But it is a lot harder.

6. Lab Rat Class

Lab rats are at the bottom of the hierarchy. They're criminals who have been ostracized by society and considered the lowest of the low. They're usually kept in captivity for scientific experiments conducted by the government.

Not all lab rats are criminals. Some have been wronged by the legal system. Some have even be framed.
