Do you mean that the gear should be a bigger gear made of seven other gears?

The Celestial Gear and The Fragments

The Celestial Gear, often referred to as just the gear, is an extremely powerful palm-shaped object that can alter and influence the world. The spirits used it back in the beginning of time to create everything as it is now. For example, Yuuna made light and Kurai darkness. It can be used to alter the world in almost anyway. The only thing the gear cannot affect is the most basic element of existence: Ether. It can only use Ether to create bigger elements through combination. It can also be used for fast destruction.

Alright. What do you suggest? It's pretty important that we are talking about bite-sized fragments though to keep consistent with what we already have.

I remember we had a similar talk about this in the past. I was under the impression that we got past it but I guess not, which is okay. The shape of the fragments were never described so we can be flexible.

You can eat metals. Its a terrible idea but you can. I've read stories of people eating all kinds of crazy stuff.

People have eaten coins, batteries, paper clips... You name it. There is even an eating disorder for eating unusual things. It's called Pica.

I should probably clarify that the whole gear isn't eaten. Its used externally. The Quuen injecting fragments and having people eat them is just part of her crude ways. There are probably better methods... Not that she'd care.

We can go with this if you want. However, if you don't like the idea, we can redefine this together. I want the lore to be liked by everyone. If we must, we can go back and edit relevant parts of the story.

This was shown here, briefly after they took out the sun:

Melina stared down at her with no words to offer. She only addressed Kurai. “Give me the fragment. We need to proceed fast.”​

On command, Kurai spit the fragment and shed Pria, whom immediately collapsed unconscious. Once again, rain started to fall. It pattered the ground and blurred Yuuna’s already fading vision.​

Here is what I think. You are right that the whole thing isn't the greatest. It can use some rethinking to remove the crudeness. I really want everyone to be happy.

Here is what I think. We can use your idea of a layered multipart gear being broken up into individual gears that are then scattered throughout the world.

But we'll have to rethink some of the mechanics. Instead of the individual gears being eaten (since they are too big), they can be absorbed by the body through magic. It temporarily becomes part of you. There has to be will for this to happen, but the queen found a way to force it through some cruel method—this being, she makes her test subjects brain dead. That way, there is no lack of will to prevent it.

Pria, of course, is tricked into accepting it, so there is no need for the cruel method for her.

I'll have to go back and re-read the story to identify the parts that need to be changed. There shouldn't be too many.

I'll re-read the story tomorrow and identify what needs to be changed. Fundementally, it isn't a big change—just some things need to be re-written here and there. Not a huge problem.

Since we discussed the Katara and Ravenna going after fragments yesterday, I'll also add this as a key plot point to the plan. I imagine their adventure can be pretty independent from current events. If you so wish, its probably possible to start planning for it now. If you do this, don't share the plans with us. We want surprises!

What about your characters, @IgnitedxSoul? Is there something specific you want them to do during this period? Or would you rather just discover it?

Okay, here are the plot changes.

• With Olive dead, all hope appears to be lost.
• Queen Melina is revealed to be the reincarnation of Myrto, who made arrangements to achieve Godhood with Kurai a thousand years ago via the gear
• Araspeth, Arthur, Hemios, Barnabas and Dusca gather at Kodama Abbey, where an army of monk ghosts awaken.
• Olive's soul is transferred to a new body. But the body starts to violently reject her instantly.
• Olive manages to achieve some control of her new body and begins recovery.
• While Olive recovers, Melina is out to collect the rest of the fragments. Ravenna and Katara also look for fragments. <----- we're here!
• Olive goes through trial and tribulations and achieves full control of her new body, as well as an important power.
• Katara and Ravenna manage to collect fragments of their own, and return stronger and wiser as a result.
• Olive meets back up with Ravenna and Katara, and the trio is re-united! With some of the fragments on their side, they are ready to face Melina
