It Began in a Tavern (OOC Thread) (Part 2)

We've done a fantastic job at creating characters. All of them are interesting, and I want to find out what is going to happen to all of them!

I have a vision for what I want to have happen when Araspeth/Hemios encounter the queen and I'd like to be granted the opportunity to write it.

However, what I have in mind might be a bit... radical. So I'm fully open to scratching it for something new if it isn't well received 😅

Same. I look especially forward to what happens between the two royal siblings, and how Melina develops at the very end. I think she is beyond redemption but we will see.

The idea of Silas having Melina as a past love interest is also an amazing concept. I just generally like the drama these sort of situations tend to bring.

That means you're inspired! I'm 100% onboard with it if @Louanne Learning is. Inspiration can only do good to this story.

And unless you cause any significant change to one of her characters, I really doubt it will be a problem. But I gotta say, when you put it like that, you really pique my curiosity, and I really want to know, lol.

I'm currently working on my entry.

And I was wondering about something: How do you all view Sophia? Do you find her and the mystery around her interesting, or are you indifferent? Do you think I am screwing it all up?

I thought this feedback might be an interesting thing to ask for so I know how to proceed. I'm pretty sure this kind of thing has not been done here—mostly because unsolicited critical feedback is not a thing in these discussion threads (for good reason!). But I see no problem if it's asked for.

It's also an interesting tactic to trial—improving one's contribution through feedback (negative and positive) of other players. I want to see if that tactic can actually work. So, if you have anything to say, say it. I'm pretty good at taking feedback graciously.

I think Olive/Sophia's story had a really strong build up and climax, but it's now in a bit of a lull. She was the primary focus of the story for a long time and had a fated tragedy that felt gripping. But now that she's recovering, it feels a bit stagnated. I think we're at a point in her arc (and the story as a whole) that we should see her being proactive.

It's difficult because if we were being realistic she likely would take weeks or months to recover from being put in a new body. But we are working on a time scale of hours or days at this point.

How do you all view Sophia?

Well, I know she is on her own arc, and you have that figured out, and so we trust you have ideas in mind where she will go.

I suppose we do have to figure out her eventual reunion with Ravenna and Katara?

Yes! I had the same thought. I actually do have some ideas but I needed to establish some important background and that took sometime, hence why my last post was so long. If I hadn't done that, I'd be writing the previous post' second half now.

I think Sophia's main issue is her weakness. She was always framed as the "chosen one" (I really hate that phrase) but her weakness has been such a massive setback I honestly couldn't solve. My dirty fix for that was to literally have Yuuna take over in an actual realistic attempt to take down Melina. But that failed and she died, basically reincarnating yet again—though to no random body, I assure you!

Honestly, if I were to go back a year and re-do this story, I'd push for the kind of character development we're doing now to happen throughout the Cliffcross journey. Ideally, I would want Olive to actually grow strong and capable in someway. But I didn't manage to do that, hence the dirty fix with Yuuna. This isn't really anyone's fault, by the way. If anything, it's mine.

But anyway, the point is, I do absolutely agree. Thanks so much for confirming my thoughts. It's great we're on the same page! Now to do something about that... I do have an idea.

I might do something drastic in this post. We'll see. But I need a bing bang to kickstart something big.

Once again, we're on the same page. I've had the exact same thought. But there is a good solution to that.

I don't trust myself, that's why I am asking, haha. But I will try my best as always. And yeah, I do plan on her finding her way back to Ravenna.

Alright! This was actually beneficial. I'm going to continue my work. Meanwhile, feel free to mention anything that comes to mind. I declare myself open to feedback.

Small update, I updated the fragments entry to have a list of who is in possession of which. It's better than going back to the story to check every time. I also colored coded the fragment text.

Still working on my entry. I feel very challenged by it, but I am trying my best.

Okay, after much work, I made a post. It was really hard but I think it will set off Sophia in the right direction. Pretty happy with it overall since it also hints a lot at a puzzling truth about Sophia! Honestly, hardest post I've written in a long while. These posts usually come easy for me.

I also set things up so Araspeth and Hemios can go after Melina to help you out with what you wanted to do, @IgnitedxSoul. I did this primarily because I know teleportation is a bit tricky. Plus, it was fun to write!

In case it wasn't clear, what happened was: Kurai approached Hemios, and Hemios got Kurai into tricking Alpha to show up in front of Araspeth with real information as an incentive. He knew she would cease the opportunity to go.

It's your turn now. Louanne will go after you so we can avoid unnecessary stalling. After Louanne, it's me again, and then the normal round up!
