Plans for the weekend...

Hey all!

I sometimes find it useful to pop down my plans for the weekend, somewhere public, for accountability purposes. With that in mind, what do you hope to achieve this weekend?

I'm currently working on editing 8,000 of a novel for another writer, so that'll be the bulk of the work. I'm hoping to get it back to them Monday.
My other aim is to try to add 1,000 words to my current WIP, which is a first draft.

However... I'm on childcare solo as my husband is working, so this might be a bit ambitious... 🤷‍♀️

Ooh! I bought a planner so i could jot down my plans for the weekend (i got it last year because i was feeling overwhelmed with stuff i needed to get done)

I plan to work more on the novel im publishing. I also have a short story that i wrote a few years back but just never gigured out a satisfying ending for. I think i have one now, so i want to redo the ending this weekend.

PLUS finish reading a book. I have 70 pages left! (Might finish it today if i get done with work early)

I'm 513 words into a scene that will probably be 1500 words, maybe 2000 when I'm through. I'd like to finish that this weekend. This is the seventh of twelve scenes I'm inserting into Curios, which has been in between drafts for a long time. Mostly, I'm capping off a subplot that I thought needed a grander finish and replacing the crappy epilogue with the ending the book deserves. I'm really getting back into the flow of things now. I think I can pull off 1000-1500 words over the weekend. We'll see.

I’m a great collector of planners. Not so good at using them! Your plans sound brilliant though, look forward to hearing how you get on!

Ooh, that all sounds really interesting. Look forward to hearing about your progress! Mine might not be so grand… the baby, or should I say toddler, has chosen today to get confident walking. Send help!

How many words do you typically write when you have a free day, at a time?

Sometimes I find it helps to start writing and get a feel for the story, then finish planning. Or that’s how I justify it, anyway!

I'm not a discovery writer any more, so I don't do that. Since I write short stories, I need to know what I am writing towards, otherwise word count limits go out of the window.

Lately, not so many. I'm peaking at around 750 a session and getting down less than 200 other days. There was a time during the first draft when I was averaging 1500 words a day and topping 3K on occasion. My record on another project was over 5500 in a single session, but that took a lot of hours.

It's not the weekend, but it is a holiday Monday, so I guess that I can post!

Starting a new story today - jotting bits and pieces in my notebook. I've got 4 spiral notebooks on the go!
