Questions and comments about rules and how the board works

Is the Character Discussions sub-forum more for discussing the creation/development of characters or can I also post a loredump thread there (for a lack of a better term lol) and link to it for additional context if someone wanted to read more about whatever characters a story of mine features?

Predominantly the former

From a writing crit point of view it needs to standalone without access to a lore dump anyway so doing without is a good habit to get into

Do we have a "Discussion of published works" (I think that was the name under the old forum) or something similar? Not our own works, but if we just want to shoot the breeze about Tolkien or Ian Fleming or Dickens or whatever? I searched but didn't come up with anything, but I can be kind of a moron about search terms. If not and if it's okay, would a thread in The Lounge be the best place for one?

Is there a way to easily see ALL the threads I have alerts turned on for?

If you click the pulldown menu next to "Forums" on the top left beneath the logo, you'll find "watched threads." I think that's the same thing, but not 100% sure.

Hello, I was wondering what the rules were for the Short Story Contest in regards to this one: your story must not be explicit/graphic.

Can you define explicit and graphic for me? Because I want to know if one of my works would be okay to submit for a contest. Won't say which, however.

we've had this discussion before, its the same as everywhere else on the board. mods will judge on a case by case basis, but pretty much if its the sort of thing you'd see in an 18 rated film its fine , if its erotica, porn, bestiality, necrophilia, rape, or splatter gore then its not
