Roleplay Interest Thread (2025)

Roleplay Name: Ashen Marches

Thank you so much @Username: required for doing such an incredible job setting up this roleplay.

Everyone can read more about it in the OOC thread -

As many of you know, I am working on a collaborative story named Ashen Marches. Although, I want to take a step back and rethink things a minute. I got way ahead of myself and began making everything from the ground up, and didn't even stop to consider that it is supposed to be collaborative. This was a big mistake on my part, and I apologize.

Now, I realize that I need to get input from everyone else. I cannot just make a story and expect people to like exactly what I like. I want you guys to contribute to the worlds history, how characters form in the face of conflict, how cities rise and empires fall. So, I am now declaring that I am open to suggestions and would highly appreciate them, whether they will be used or not.

What do you want?

Why?

Let's make it happen.

No, that's okay, and I think it's an excellent idea now to open it up to comments and questions!

I just re-read the Setting and Lore and it sounds very intriguing!

The capital city of Elphame, the White Havens, ruled by the High King and High Queen,

I imagine these will be important characters?

Other lands exist beyond Elphame with different kinds of creatures and their own strange types of magic.

This is important for opening up avenues in which the story can go

Our story begins with Coriandra calling for all the most elite warriors and sorcerers and investigators to come to the White Havens to help her unravel this mystery and bring the criminals to justice.

Ah! The inciting incident

very post has to be at least five sentences

I think a word limit better applies. the usual is between 300 and 1500 words

you cannot control ANY other characters.

We have to give writers the ability, though, to write characters into their entries. Major changes must just first be run by the character's creators

I know who the real villains are in this story and I have different locations in mind for each chapter to take place

I'm not sure that this type of proscription works with a roleplay. We have to go where the story leads, based on what all members contribute

The fate of Elphame and possibly the human world are in your hands....

Good rallying cry!

You can "control" npc characters of course just not other characters, like you can't beat up other characters and the other person had no choice in the matter lol. If your character is a sorcerer for instance, you can say, "Bernice cast a spell on Cole to turn him into a statue" but if Cole is also a sorcerer he should be given the chance to say if his character negates or breaks the spell, that would be called godmodding to just do whatever you want with other characters.

There's no problem with including other characters in your posts, I just think every roleplayer should have autonomy and get to decide what their character does or doesn't do. Collab posts are the answer to this like you said.

I can definitely adjust the sentence minimum to a word limit of 300.

I know where the story leads I'm just saying I can adjust and make changes depending on your characters choices, like in a DnD game. I've done it before with plenty of roleplays, it works just fine, I promise lol.

I know where the story leads

I'm iffy about this statement. It seems to go against what a roleplay represents - a collaborative effort in which new avenues are always opening. We need to be flexible, and accept contributions as they come. Sure, we can talk about where the story might go. but we need to value all ideas that are put forth, and follow new ideas as they arise.

Roleplay Proposal Template

Roleplay Name:
The Shadow Force

Roleplay Genre: Fantasy/Sci-Fi/Mystery

Roleplay GM: Dark_Indigenous_Prince

Setting: The Land of Elphame, aka Land of the Faeries, which is known to be full of woodlands and open fields and dazzling freshwater rivers and lakes and waterfalls. The population is mostly Elves, beautiful human-sized beings, and any number of fantastical creatures, including Trolls, Dragons, Unicorns, Mermaids, and on and on.

Normal humans are the minority here but they do exist, the Elves have the ability to travel to Earth at will and sometimes they bring back especially talented humans to stay as long as they want, whether they are singers, painters, dancers, craftsmen, great warriors, scientists, witches or wizards, etc etc.

The capital city of Elphame, the White Havens, ruled by the High King and High Queen, has the highest population as it is the safest and richest place in Elphame, but there are many smaller prosperous kingdoms throughout Elphame with other kings and queens that are all subservient to the High King and High Queen. Other lands exist beyond Elphame with different kinds of creatures and their own strange types of magic.

Basic Story Lore: High King Drake of Elphame has died under mysterious circumstances while on a political mission to the desert kingdom of Scoria. High Queen Coriandra has taken his place on the throne and placed her son, Prince Magnus, under intense twenty-four seven security detail. Our story begins with Coriandra calling for all the most elite warriors and sorcerers and investigators to come to the White Havens to help her unravel this mystery and bring the criminals to justice.

Roleplay Specific Rules: This story will be three chapters long. Your character can be Elvish or Human, or any variation you can think of, if you'd like to be a different kind of creature please just message me and we can workshop your ideas.

All Elves are born with magic, but their abilities are related to whichever Element they are closest with. If you are a Woodland Elf, for instance, your powers would mostly be related to influencing plants and beasts and potions. If you are a Mermaid, your powers would be related to controlling water and healing and sea animals. I will detail all the Elemental powers if this roleplay gets enough attention.

Every post has to be at least 300 words. If you want to, you can collab with another player to make a post interacting together. I will leave clues and hints throughout the story as your investigation begins.

The fate of Elphame and possibly the human world are in your hands....
