We have many stories this month, the most I've ever seen a short story contest. It's a battle for street cred.

For those new to the board, on the 15th a contest voting poll will open in a separate thread, and you can choose there which story is your favorite. Because we have so many stories, it might be smart to start reading now. I know I have! (There is still almost a week to add your own story.)
The current short story contest can be found here.

I'll post a practice poll here, just to make sure I don't screw things up during the important moment and because it amuses me.

You can discuss your voting choice below, but keep your discussion in a SPOILERS tag to keep the voting process pure.

A big thank you to our most excellent contestants!

I think Lincoln is a no brainer because his speech at the end ("Four score and . . . <checks watch> seven minutes ago") seals the deal with the crowd. He must be the most important because he's saved as the finale.

I would also include Billy the Kid, because although he's just the MC for the presentation at the end (he shoots the lights out to get the audience's attention, yes, firing a gun in a school auditorium, haha, and everyone politely claps), he did serve as muscle throughout the journey and helped abduct all the other famous historical figures.

I like this spoiler effect.

Tap... it's gone. Tap... it's back. Tap... it's gone. Tap... it's back.

This is fun!

ETA: it works with the quoted text too! Now I can play with both thumbs.

See the button I circled in red in the top post? You have to click the three-dot button right above it that's next to the toolbar's color easel. It will open up extra buttons, one of which is the spoiler button. It looks like a Zorro mask.
  1. You type a line like this . . .
  2. Highlight it . . .
  3. Click the spoiler button . . .
and when you post it will be hidden.
