Stop to/and Think

I just wrote something along the lines of "... you never stop TO think that there might be something to stop AND think about."

I deliberately wanted to use the two versions of the phrase. That makes sense, right? "Stop to think" implies a single action where one only stopped to think. But "stop and think" implies more of a continuing, ongoing action. I think I have that right. AI agrees with me, but AI can take a long walk off a short pier.
