I had a Genres You've Never Heard Of thread going on thenold forum that came about as I queried agents. They'd list super specific or designer genres that i never knew existed (example, Female Rage genre.... apprently I've read a couple but never knew it got sorted into its own genre)

I want to bring it back, starting with a new TROPE i just learned....

The Black Cat trope.
Usually a FMC in a romantic coupling who is introverted, mysterious, and aloof.

(Normally paired with the "Goldren Retriever" Boyfriend trope. I already knew of the GR Boyfriend trope, btw)

The one that I thought surely was a joke: cozy post-apocalyptic or cozy catastrophe fiction. Turned out to be a real thing.

Yeah, just because the entire world's gone to shit and there are radioactive zombies running rampant and eating people's brains doesn't mean that now's not the time to start a cozy little tea-house! With fine bone china, and doilies, and lace curtains at the windows, and damask wallpaper, and dainty chairs with pastel-coloured cushions, and a classic three-tiered cake stand for serving scones and cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut off!

(Sorry. *blush* Got a bit carried away there) 😊

Once you read TV Tropes.com for hours and hours, your life will never be the same.
Im sure if i read the dictionary, there would be more than dozens of words I've never heard of before.

My point for this thread are tropes and genres you've come across organically.

I was in an ARC group (a group requesting and promotiong Advanced Reader Copies), and 4 different authors were listing expected tropes in their novels and "black cat" was on them.
So i googled (yes, it brought me to tv Tropes.com)

I've never heard of TV Tropes.com until now and will not be typing it into the server.

I'm afraid I offended a couple of cozy apocalytic aficionados because I laughed the first time I heard the term, thinking they were joking. I'm afraid to check and see if there is a cozy snuff genre.

Cosy crime is apparently a thing, it came up as an autocomplete suggestion while doing a dictionary search of all places.
