What does "follow" do?

I have followed some people, but when they post I'm not getting any notifications. Not even when they start a new thread. I have tried looking at the settings and preferences, but have not found anything so far that would enable notifications for this.

So, I just wonder what purpose does "follow" have right now?

I'm also curious to know what it does. Maybe it's just for profile posts. You've followed me, so did you get notified that I posted something on my profile?

It should be possible to get a news feed of posts by people you follow, also it should show little icons of which of your followers is on line

It’s why mods usually follow each other and may also follow troublemakers

We may have the newsfeed functionality turned off when I have more time I’ll look in the back end

Yeah people who cause discord, trolls, people who routinely break rules and disrupt the community

We don’t have many because we didn’t let the persistent shit disturbers from the old site join when we moved over here.

But in general on any forum if you are followed by the mod team its usually either because they love your content and are eyeing you for a staff position, or because you are a shit stirring troll and they have a finger trembling on the big red button of doom

I found the news feed! But it also shows what people have liked, so it gets cluttered up really bad and becomes less useful.

It's underneath "What's New" at the top and then "Your news feed". It seems to show only things from people I have followed.

The main reason I have followed people is because I like their content and posts and would sometimes like to read what they have to say. What they react to is less useful, for me anyway.

So yeah, the function is there, just a bit tricky to find maybe.

I was looking for the follow button and found the members part of forum instead. Got a bit disappointed for not being on the list of notable members, but then I realized I don't have many posts written here at all. (it is however more posts than I had in the previous WF)

Aside from winning badges, she probably wrote a lot of posts in Roleplay and the number of posts could be connected to points and reaction score.

the badge one has four people tied top with two each, the most impressive thing is the post count... generally mods have the most (wrey was massively clear on the old forum) but louane has over two times as many as me so far
