Hollos! Am Yoyai. I'm a self-published experimental author looking for a new writing community. I was frequent on AW, but I've moved on since then. I'm looking to get better at blurbs and at making more compelling stories. I wanted to open up my pocket universe to fanfics and roleplays, too, but I've never written a lore book before, lol.

Anyway.

I'm in my 30s, an eccentric fem from the States. I hate it in Ohio. I mostly write fantasy set in scifi worlds. I like to call my writing "Fictional non-fiction" sometimes, if that makes any sense, lol. You can find me on discord @yoyaiwrites, and I'm slowly piecing together an author website. More on that later, maybe. Ig?

Anywho.

Pleasure to meet you all. Pardon me for being shy. Hollos again, and good day from Yoyai! 🤗🫠👋

Hello and welcome, Yoyai, please jump in and make yourself at home. Looking forward to seeing you in the forums!

Welcome!

I like to call my writing "Fictional non-fiction" sometimes, if that makes any sense, lol.
Is that like autofiction? That’s a term I learned recently and I’m quite interested in the concept now.

What kind of things happen in your pocket universe? I read “fantasy set in sci fi worlds” and thought “wizards in spaceships” so now I’m curious 😁

Yeah, you can say magic in spaceships. I've been writing about a world named Dyjian set in an alternate universe where there are a number of peculiar things. I'm not sure which to mention up-front, lol. One that I've written about extensively is called a Kyusoa. They're anthropomorphic dolls that have powers of imagination called 'Aelyth.' I don't have a magic system. They were engineered by a group of indigenous aliens native to Dyjian just in case humanity got to being a significant threat to life there. Lots of other things too. I'll probs go over them once I get my website up and running. I'm thinking I'm going to release the manuscripts for free reading. 🫠

As to "Fictional non-fiction," I literally mean that it's a hybrid fiction book with non-fiction elements like appendices. I avoid footnotes because those tend to clutter the page up real fast, especially in a deep-fantasy scifi book.
