Why are people so bothered by a protagonist for being short?

Is there something so unappealing about a protagonist being super short, due to torturous experiments done to them by the main villain, who happens to be much taller than the protagonist? Why is this such a terrible idea?
Is that a thing? I think there was a small character in Game of Thrones if I'm not mistaken. Probably not the protagonist.

But I will say any protagonist that has something considered a disability, there can be some, well, we'll say strong thoughts, arising over how that individual is depicted in terms of media. Audiences, rightly or wrongly, are often looking for good and valid representation of groups perceived as marginalized.

I'm not sure if that's what you mean or whether or not that perception is right or wrong. Just saying what I heard.
