anonywobbler discussions

I didn't get here through your old site, but thru the other one with the same name. Just wondering if the OP is saying you use the same prompts over and over, changing every month? I like the anon thing, though.

We had voted on prompts for 2025 at the old site. They change every year, and these were what we came up with this time around. I sorted them by month so that people could plan ahead. That way you could work on, let's say, October's contest now, if you had an idea, and it would be ready to post when the time came. It's so that no one is surprised by a contest prompt that they would like to participate in, but they don't have time that week to put anything together.

Will Admin and moderators still be able to see who is posting what?

I can see this being a problem if the option to post anonymously is applied to all posts.
The anonymous option is only available for contest entries. You won't be able to be use it any place else. We have it for the sole purpose of submitting contest entries, though it appears to have been designed for more sensitive applications. I don't think other forums are running witness protection programs or providing tele-health, but it was built to conceal identity.

Everything is basically the same as old anonymizer except there's a button you can push to toggle it on and off. It defaults to On so you actively have to turn it Off. That's annoying but it's the best we have at the moment.

Mods have a permission on/off switch to be able to see who posted anonymously or not. Given that it will only be used for the sole purpose of submitting contest entries, I can't see why we would need to see who's posting. I'm sure there could be some crazy emergency that required an early reveal, so we would still have it available. Something we have to discuss. We were just playing around with it today. Every mod does have the power to reveal an anonymous user, though. The problem is that once the member is revealed, they can't be re-anonymized. It's dumb but computers are dumb.

Now that we know the button's there, is it reasonable to expect us not to click it? I, for one, will need a third hand to swat away the other two.

Let's hope not. I wish there was a way to lock it, but there isn't. The software is very simple and user-friendly, which giveth and taketh away. The logic is very straightforward, with everything being "yes, do this" or "no, don't do this." In this case, "yes, default box checked" or "no, default box not checked." But then the humans take over. In my experience building POS systems, any button than can be pushed will be pushed. It is what it is.
