Good to hear. Like Moose said, we had an add-on at the OG that did alerts differently than the XF default. I'm looking into grabbing that.
I toggled it on and off a couple of times which probably reran the query its based on... but like homer says we don't have persistent alerts installed here currently, so as it stands you'll only get alerts for threads you've visited since the last alert
That was my bad. I was moving something else, clicked on yours by mistake, and moved it right back. Nothing to see here.
Are we still having issues with alerts? Like are people missing things? I can still get the Persistent Alert add-on that will continuously alert each new message in a watched thread, not just the last one you haven't clicked.
I think mine are working okay now. I'll keep a closer eye on them.
I seem to be missing notifications on new posts in some threads I'm following.
This happens on other forums I'm a member of as well. Which is why I preferred the old writingforums.org system. Even if a topic was a month old or even older, you would still get a notification if someone posted in it. It could restart conversations, and more importantly, I think it made users participate more.

It’s inherent in the software if you haven’t visited a thread since the last alert on that thread no more alerts. We just need the persistent alerts add in so it should be no problem really
you still get notices for threads you watched before you changed the preferences, you need to unwatch them, refresh then watch them again. On the other half of the issue i suspect this is again down to a lack of persistent alerts. we're working on that.
