I'm not sure what's going on with the board, then. I tried Moose's suggestions (as above) - ticking and unticking those check-boxes so they look like Moose's screenshot -- but the board still sends me about 5-6 emails a day. *shrug*

I usually delete them and come here to the board, where I see them on the "bell" icon. But is there a way to stop receiving email notifications?

Thank you so much! :)

Watched threads that have "and send emails" checked from before you uncheck it in your settings continue to send emails. Changing your settings will affect subsequent threads.

You need to go to the individual thread and click "unwatch"

You can always then click "watch" again and make sure "and send emails" isn't checked, then you will see the notifications but not get the emails

I'm not sure if this is a bug, but I can't seem to delete the alerts I've already read. On the old site, these alerts were routinely deleted automatically, but even if I've used the "Mark Read" button, the alerts are still there the next time I log in.

I suspect that the answer might be in this screen, but I don't know how to summon it:

What do you mean by "delete the alerts?" Like, when you click on the bell the red number persists? Or you mean you continue to get fresh alerts for forums you've "Mark Read?" You will continue to receive alerts for anything new even if the forum is marked read unless you "unwatch" the forum, but not sure if that's what you're talking about.

With persistent alerts you have to go to the threads concerned to cancel the alert. Mark read and mark unread control whether thread is dark blue ( indicating new posts since a last visit, but have no bearing on alerts

Did the old forum remove alerts for threads you had visited or something like that? I don't remember now.

same as this one does, if you visit the thread and scroll through the new posts the alerts disapear until next time someone adds stuffto thgat thread

Yeah, the red number disappears, but the alert itself remains in the list, although it gets unbolded, at least for me. Not sure if that's the intended behaviour.

Did the old one have alerts disappear from the last? I don't remember it doing that.

I honestly can't remember. I've seen it on an XF forum somewhere, but I don't remember which one it was now.

EDIT: It was on a business forum somewhere that I was a part of, not WF.

Just wanted to add that I love how the notifications work on the new site - the bolding/highlighting of the ones you haven't addressed yet, and the regular text for the ones that are no longer relevant after you've clicked on a particular thread. Way better system than the old site or on .com.

We have the latest Xenforo version, which was easy because we're brand new, but I imagine it might be difficult from them to upgrade easily. Their medal engine, for example, doesn't work with our version, as we found out the hard way. And the developer has skipped town apparently, leaving everyone in the lurch, so .com may not be able to upgrade and keep theirs, which would royalty screw everything up. I'm just learning about all this shit now, but it seems to me as if you might reach a certain point and not be able to upgrade anymore without losing something. A very interesting world.

Thanks, Hammer! Noted. :)

It might also be that their download would work fine but ours was corrupted somehow because the developer isn’t supporting it anymore
