Hey hey! Been a minute since I've done one of these (counts on fingers), so free free to check my math.

Today's update is to announce that @Luxuria will be stepping down as the role-play mini-mod to focus on her education and @Louanne Learning has agreed to step up and fill the position. We thank Luxuria for her service and for rebooting the role-play back at the OG after years of dormancy. It is one of the Forum's most vibrant features and would not be here without her dedication and enthusiasm, so we salute her! Louanne has also been involved since the beginning and her contributions have been equally legion, so I expect no drop-off moving forward.

Beers, salutes, and big-ups to both! Please reach out to @Louanne Learning if you are interested in participating.

Other news while the iron is hot:

  • The contests continue to do very well with more entries, action, and voting than we've had in years. Thank you all for your participation and to the contest mods for making sure the trains run on time. There are still a few days left to vote on the Flash Fiction contest, which has some particularly excellent entries this round. It takes less than 30 minutes to read through all of them, so I encourage those that have not voted to get over there and check it out. We've yet to have any entries in the Fourth Contest this month. The theme is screenplay, but like Moose said in the thread, that might not be for everyone, so if it doesn't work, we'll cycle something else in there. Give it shot if you have the chops, though. I love writing screenplays.
  • Membership continues to do well. We're up to about 275 members, though I'd say fewer than 200 have posted anything since Lifeboat day. We continue to average around 70 unique visitors a day, which is very good considering that Summer has classically been our slow time of year. Once Fall comes around membership and activity tends to increase, so we should only see those things go up. We are getting a steady diet of spammers and junk mail too, which is a good thing because it means our SEO is working. The spam-filter on this site is much better than our old one at the OG, so the more who discover us, the better.
  • There are more upgrades to the Forum and things we'd like to do, but time has been short for the mod team over the summer. It's the busy season in a lot of our worlds and, you know, the outdoors beckons. We expect to have more time to concentrate on Forum things once the weather turns and cold, darkness, and computer screens begin to bloom.
Thank you all again for making the Forum what it is. I can't believe it hasn't even been three months yet. Have a beer on me!

and @Louanne Learning has agreed to step up and fill the position.

I'm really looking forward to continuing with the stories we have got going now, and creating new ones!

Please reach out to @Louanne Learning if you are interested in participating.

If you like to write, you will really enjoy participating in the role-plays. Basically, the idea is that you create a character or two, and then we write a collaborative story. It's a little bit easier than writing your own story because you have the prompts of the entries that came before you. You can figure on writing an entry (between 300 and 1500 words) about once every 3-4 weeks, so not too onerous.

Two of our roleplays underway (You can also check out the OOC threads for more details):

It Began in a Tavern

The Jade Empire

And we have a new roleplay just starting up. Hope you will consider joining us in The Elidel Chronicles.

If you have any questions at all about participating in the role-plays, please do not hesitate to drop me a line in a PM.

Thank you, @Homer Potvin. I truly appreciated my time as mini-mod and I am excited to focus on my education. I am happy I was given the chance to bring the RP forum back to life. Thank you mods for your trust and support. Roleplay Players, thanks for being a part of the RP forum and its stories. You each bring a unique touch to your characters and worlds with the lore you create.

So, let me, without further ado hand over my trusty Mini-Mod Hat to @Louanne Learning. *Hands the gold-colored plastic crown to Louanne*. Thank you for stepping into this role and I wish you the best! ❤️
