Oh god, now my character (the one with short bowel syndrome) is re-writing Americana patriot songs to revolve around his condition.

I don't know My Country, 'Tis of Thee too well, but it always reminds of the English national anthem. I've no idea why. Do they have similar music?
 
Our "welcome spring" holidays in North America are one week apart, too.

In Canada, we celebrate Victoria Day on the Monday between the 18th and 24th of May.

Then, in the States, they have Memorial Day on the last Monday of the month.
 
Clicked, so I must post. I applied for an internal technical writer position a few weeks back, hoping tenure/reputation might get me in despite my lack of experience. Buuuut I got an email today saying that the opening has been "cancelled." Guessing they figure gen AI can do it cheaper. Boo.

I tried grilling mushrooms, but I found sauteing them makes them juicier and more tender. Grilling just dries them out. *shrug*
Mushrooms have a very high water content. Cook that off, there ain't much left unless you replace it with something else. Portobellas grill up okay.

Ah, fair enough. Thank you! :) I started experimenting with mushrooms as an "added extra" for pasta, and have been trying different recipes. But I stuck with small button ones because portobellos are more expensive here. I'll give 'em a try. :)

Can you get morels or porcinis over there? Those will kick you in the face. I'm not the hugest portobella fan. Mass to flavor ratio isn't there for me.
 
I do not understand mushrooms at all. It's like almost everyone else just has a completely different experience than I do with them. Maybe I am lacking something in my sense of taste/smell. Like that thing where some people eat cilantro and it tastes like soap?

Mushrooms don't have flavour for me.. On pizzas, in stir fries, anything. They're just bits of sludge with an unappealing texture. I say, mushrooms can take a hike !
 
There's a woman currently on trial here in Oz for poisoning her estranged husband's family with death cap mushrooms she served them in a beef Wellington. Did you know there was AI written foraging book that pretty much says they're safe to eat? No, that's not her excuse.
