Doing my favorite weekly pastime of paying my parking tickets online. Fun fact: it costs $2.50 to park anywhere in Providence for the minimum time. The parking ticket for failing to do so is $20. I park anywhere from 20 to 100 times a week, depending on how often I need to hit one of my stores. So that's a minimum of $50 if I were to be a good citizen, but being a menace to society, I never pay under any circumstances. So long as I get two or less (more like 4 in a standard week), I am saving money. Well, the company is saving money, because I charge everything to them, but I'm doing my part to keep our asses solvent!

(regarding those Dog Days, I think I might be officially losing my mind this week... get my bed at the funny farm ready... Uncle Homer is coming in hot!)

The long, golden twilights of dog days comprise some of the most wonderful moments of the year where I live. Makes having to avoid the heat of day worthwhile.

Dog days are called that because the romans thought that Sirius the Dog Star was influencing the weather in the period where it is brightest ( ie July and August )

They are generally linked to lethargy and misfortune

Good god moose don't start a Roman Empire Duration argument.

I remember reading an article many years ago where this study confirmed that students are zonked out and not paying attention when it's hot in the classroom. But when it's cool, they're bushy-tailed and raring to go. I felt extremely sluggish today at my office nook as my bedroom AC struggled to keep up with the 34C high in the late afternoon.

I am getting sick of the heatwaves. Tomorrow will mark the 20th day where we've had a 30C+ high this summer. Last year? 14 days. And we still have August and September. FML.
