Kids never notice the weather.

I always noticed the weather as a kid. The vanishment of clouds and the arrival of summer made me happy. Greek summers have no clouds and almost no rain. Almost no rain because it does sometimes happen around August.

Like a few days ago, August 1st, I woke up to the sound of rain and ran to the window to confirm it, opening it to find the skies enveloped in misty clouds. It was summer rain. Summer rain is special. The dried grass absorbs the water and emits a wonderful tea-like aroma in the air. It's also warm because the earth stores heat.

Such days happen come end of September, when the seasons start to change. That always brought me feelings as a kid, too. Not bad ones in anyway. I always found the arrival of autumn kind of magical. I say that, but every season had its unique magic. Still, summer was and still is my favorite of all seasons.

My wife decided to paint one of the bedrooms today. I hate painting and refuse to do it, preemptively stating I planned to detail her car today, including a wax job. So I'm doing that instead of painting.

Whenever I take stuff off the wall and start spackling, my perfectionist former professional painter husband sighs, takes the jar and putty knife out of my hands, and sets about doing a paint job he'll be able to live with. This is the man who cringed for years every time he looked at the 35 foot wall in our living room because the repeat pattern in the floral wallpaper dropped almost half an inch from one side to the other. He finally relaxed when I tore down the wallpaper and he could repaint.

Honestly, the only thing I care about is her shutting up about how much she hates the current colors. The ones she picked, I might add. Other than that, I have no opinion.

I got stung by a bumblebee today. It stung for only a couple of minutes, then was fine.

They seem to only come around when you have food out, so I finished my meal inside the house.
