Dammit, got an idea for a dystopian horror story: a world where AI embedded chips in our heads and can manually shut down our brain if we step out of line from what the Director says.

The inciting event? The main character, once submissive and obedient, gets blasted out of an airship and free falls down to Mobile to Tom Petty’s “Free Falling” before beginning to learn about the resistance.

I have 5 sisters and 6 brothers. Did I mention Irish?

The best way to find anything that's not where you thought it was is to give up, then go looking for something else.

I love this. I am so glad I grew up in a large family.
I'm ninth and was the youngest for six years and then three more. I think my eldest brother had emigrated to Ottawa before our youngest brother was born. When I was born, my mother (dad too, but mostly my mother) had nine kids, no twins, ranging from nought to 11 years old.
I think all bar one will be together nest week for one brother's 60th and another's 50th.

It's interesting, as everyone finds their place in the family. I am the auntie who never had kids of her own, so I am the second-mother to a lot of my nieces and nephews! What an amazing privilege.

All my sisters have kids but two of my wife's sisters don't. All the aunts are great, but the second-mothers are especially appreciated, especially by the kids, even now as adults themselves.

My daughter's goal in family life was to be THAT aunt for my grandson. She has succeeded admirably. He went out to the Pacific Northwest to provide childcare this summer, and at some point, my daughter took him on a day trip. She posted photos of the trip on social media along with the tagline, "If your nephew won't wear matching sweaters and drink matching Starbucks drinks in Seattle with you, I feel sorry for you..."
