I'm baa-aack. First run-through done after eight hours. Had one small melt down at the outset when a particular part of the program didn't work properly and I couldn't reach anyone helpful at the publisher's. Friday afternoon, and I suppose all good New York City-ites were headed for the hills and beaches. After taking a few computer backroads myself, I figured out ways around all but a couple of challenges. I'm calling it good for tonight. I'll make one more faster run over it tomorrow to make sure I didn't miss anything, then it goes back into the hands of He Who Maketh the Final Calls.

I am remarkably consistent with mistakes. If I live to be one hundred, read another dozen explanations, and listed to another dozen people explain the matter, I will never know whether I should lay down and die or lie down and die. No. Don't try it. Don't even start to go there with me or I shall wax profane and possibly obscene. A fine copy editor had a job because of me, so it all works out for the best in the end. How would I know if you were lying about laying, anyway?

Oh. OH! I think I just figured out the last problem. O callou callay! O frabjous day!

Having a chill Friday night with some drinks and watching the Blue Jays kick some Yankee ass. Soon it shall be pizza delivery time.
Hmm. Am I allowed to say that I don't care all that much about high-profile sports? *shrug*
Yeah that's fine, just don't say "sportsball" and you're good.

Huzzah! I just figured out a problem in my last chapter, and how to overcome it!

... and now it's introduced another problem. Hazzuh.

(... which is the opposite of "Huzzah!") ;)

Well, my day was not chill, but I just made the second pass through the book for a grand total of around eleven hours on the computer today. I'm going to let the copy edited manuscript rest overnight, then email it tomorrow, or I will ceaselessly worry the thing like a dog puppy with a deer bone until Monday morning. Hell, maybe I'll mail it tonight. Alea jacta est, to quote Asterix comics.

Reminds me of when my daughter attended her first -- and only -- football game at the local U. She captioned a photo of herself, "Look at me, I'm sportsing!"

Oh right, almost forgot to post something. Going to attend a virtual vet appointment soon so I can ask if they can prescribe something to help with Mittens' arthritis. Poor ole gal has slowed down a lot the past few months and just can't hop around like she used to. The electric blankets help a little, but she isn't grooming the back 2/3s of her body anymore. Everything else seems fine, at least. Good appetite, lots of water, follows me around everywhere, engages me.

Oh it's not too too severe, I can just tell she's stiff and uncomfortable when laying down or getting up from a snooze, and she can't really jump any higher than up to my bed now. Once she's been up for a few minutes and has "warmed up," she walks around normally. I just want her to be comfortable.

Yeah, pretty much. For very old cats, kidney issues and arthritis are almost inevitable. We've been just really fortunate that she's been so healthy all this time.
