If you click on this thread you must post on it...

If you have ice cream with pie, it has to be vanilla. But my favourite ice cream in a cone is butter pecan.

Happy Friday!

Glad the dumb work week is finished, but I had some Canada Post DRAMA today. My kitty's pain meds could've been delivered yesterday - the delivery person came to my building, got inside, and instead of buzzing me to come sign for the package, they left me a card telling me to pick it up at the post office. "Delivery." Thanks bud.

So, after work I took an Uber there and walked home. I've been meaning to send a signed copy of the book to my dad and a friend, so I did make the most of it and got that taken care of at the same time. Silver linings. Also, when did shipping a book or two become so PRICEY ?

Right? I buy my embroidery thread from Valdani in Alberta and the price for shipping a box of thread boggles the mind. My favorite moccasins also come from Canada, and I doubt I'll be able to afford them anymore just because of the shipping costs. It might be cheaper to move to Edmonton than to pay postage for shipping from there.

I had a long conversation with the publicist today and in the course of it, I mentioned people to whom I wanted to send an ARC of Book II. She told me to make a list of people, bookstores, libraries, newspapers, influencers, etc. and that she would send them to spare me the expense. Might your publisher be willing to send some copies to folks?

You mean this guy?

Another early morning. My contribution for family gathering today is "green beans" - so I decided to make a green bean salad like we used to have when we were kids - with oil and vinegar, and garlic and mint.

I'm working on my next entry for one of our role plays and trying to figure out how to bring the threads so far together...

Yes (because that's me), but there's still the crazy shipping cost 😅

I guess the big businesses must have sweetheart deals or just handle the shipping themselves. I can have 5 author copies sent to my place for like $9 shipping, but to send one copy to my dad costs $25 somehow - more than the retail price of the dang book!

Think I will spent at least a little bit of the afternoon doing some short story submissions. Would be really nice to get one more sale to close out the year.

send your dad an amazon voucher and have him order the book from them... you get a sale to help the algo and some of the price back in royalties, and shipping costs less than if you buy it and ship it

I would've just bought one and selected his address for delivery, but he wanted a signed copy. No choice but to send it through the post myself.

that works too but buying them yourself doesn't stimulate the algorythm... can you not sign a book plate and send it him sepereately

It's just not quite the same. But the deed has already been done, in any event. I doubt anyone else will ask for one in future, so it's all good.

Oh, that moose. He may be big and soft, but there's nothing mushy about his brain.
