Is there any point to you ever eating at a restaurant?
Now that I have all the time in the world to cook? No. No there is not. I stocked up on gift cards to all of my favorite places while I was still working, so now it's like I'm eating for free. But once that taps out, it will be rare indeed.

Food chat reminds me that I should order some groceries..

Thank you for the explanation of vodka sauce. I'd heard of it but the concept didn't make sense to me. The best vodkas are not supposed to have any flavour, so why would it be an ingredient for a flavourful sauce? I'll get a jar of Classico and see how it tastes.

It doesn't really impart flavor. Neither does wine. You cook off the alcohol, not mix it like a drink. The chemical reaction releases flavors inherent to the food.... I think they're in the form of enzymes but can't remember.

Don't, uh, mix vodka with the Classico. That would be gross. More so.

The Twisted Pig turned out to have fantastic food! omg, the sauce was soooo delicious. Of course I asked for extra

I wrote a eight page working outline for Book III. At the top of the list of events, I added a category called Orphan Events and Questions for events that don't yet have a place in line and "what the hell do I do about THIS?" situations. With working outline and Draft II Part A in hand, the goal is to complete Draft II Part B by the end of June. I added a month to my deadline since a new grandchild is due in March. I'll have to make the trip twice between the first of March and end of June, and it's four days round trip each time.

Wow. Just reread that. It's really boring compared to food. Sorry.

Why is it that the idea of writing feels as though it's in my rearview mirror? Last time I checked I still have a grasp of grammar and technique, and an ear for good writing. But the creative wheels seem locked in treacle.

Creative wheels are over-rated. If you wait on them to start turning on their own, you'll never get anything done. Up! At 'em, Graham! Butt to chair. Pen to paper. (Cracks the whip.) On, Igor! On!

(This gentle encouragement brought to you as a public service announcement.)

I was afraid you'd say something like that. Oh well. Nose to grindstone, I guess.
