It Began in a Tavern (OOC Thread) (Part 2)

Certainly, you can get started on those. I'll tell you if there is anything else.

here's what I have so far -

Tartaros is the cavernous Underworld, the great Tartarean pit below Earth. Even lower than Hades, it is home to Tartarus, the god of the underworld. Its large brass gates are guarded by a monster, a cyclops with a fat serpent-body, named Aegis. It is more accessible than Olympia.

Olympia is the highest layer of the sky, a wide-open space with snow-capped mountains. It is home to Aether, the god of air, and Chronos, the god of time. It is accessible by riding a beam of Olympian light up through a hole in the sky, and only by invitation.

Time travel – can only be used to plant memories, and can only be conducted by agents of Chronos, the god of time, using a specific spell.

Here is the problem with Gods: they aren't particularly compatible with the current lore. Remember that Melina herself wants Godhood, because she blames the Architect (a God-like being) for the way the world is. The key twist is there isn't actually any God, and that it's up to everyone to make sure the world doesn't fall into decay. Blaming and hoping for divine intervention is the wrong move. So, given all that, it might be strange to add actual Gods.

So, it's not that we can't add Gods, but it would certainly be tricky to connect them to current lore. That said, we do have the spirits, though they aren't exactly anywhere near God-like beings because their powers are highly limited.

Now, we should totally keep these new characters (they're cool and they're essential for your entry and future ones to work), but perhaps we should redefine the word God. It shouldn't be a term to describe powerful beings, especially because they'd probably intervene with Melina directly to stop the chaos—the spirits can't because they aren't powerful, hence why Yuuna needed Olive to become worthy of Melina as an opponent.

The good thing is how the actual omnipotent being Melina chases isn't referred to as God, it's referred to as "The Architect", so all of this is possible.

In short, everything is fine to keep as-is, but let's re-define the word God. Do you want me to leave that up to you?

but perhaps we should redefine the word God.

Sounds reasonable. I was just going by the lore we have posted already -

The seven fragments correspond to the seven colors of the spectrum, and accordingly to seven gods -

1. Red — Chaos (Original god formed from the void)
2. Orange — Aether (God of air)
3. Yellow — Chronos (God of time)
4. Green — Gaia (God of Earth)
5. Blue — Hemera (God of day)
6. Indigo — Eros (God of love)
7. Violet — Tartarus (God of the Underworld)

But we can easily change the word god to something else -

Which do you prefer? Deity ... Idol ... Demigod ... Lord .... Power ....

Hmmm... let's see...

I'm pretty sure that Greek Gods aren't actually like the Abrahamic Gods the word tends to bring to mind, who are portrayed to be the omnipotent and all powerful beings that created the world. Greek Gods are immortal beings that have power and specialty associated with them. I say, we just make them deities who were tasked with governing elements of the world early in time, and were made to be immortal so they can do so.

What do you think of that?

changes to the lore

Edited new lore - (Okay to post?)

Tartaros is the cavernous Underworld, the great Tartarean pit below Earth. Even lower than Hades, and consisting of several passages, including the Hypnos and Thanatos passages, it is home to the deity of the underworld, Tartarus. Its large brass gates are guarded by a monster, a cyclops with a fat serpent-body, named Aegis. It is more accessible than Olympia.

Olympia is the highest layer of the sky, a wide-open space surrounded by with snow-capped mountains. It is home to Aether, the deity of air, and Chronos, the deity of time. It is accessible only by invitation, and by riding a beam of Olympian light up through a hole in the sky.

Sure, give it a cool title and post it. Can you also do a separate entry for deities to define them more clearly?

I just had a thought - to make up a lore entry entitled - Deities of the Fragments and where they live

I can include the bits about Olympia, and Tartaros - and flesh it out to include the other deities. Any suggestions?

1. Red — Chaos (Original deity formed from the void) - lives in___
2. Orange — Aether (deity of air) - lives in Olympia
3. Yellow — Chronos (deity of time) - lives in Olympia
4. Green — Gaia (deity of Earth) - lives in ___
5. Blue — Hemera (deity of day) - lives in ____
6. Indigo — Eros (deity of love) - lives ___
7. Violet — Tartarus (deity of the Underworld) lives in Tartaros
