Research Wormhole

Anyone have advice for avoiding the research Wormhole? I do enjoy research and am working on a historical fiction piece, but it's all over the place. Basically, still working out where I am going with this story, but I start researching one element and end up in another. Ex.: Researching 1920s veterinary practice, end up at the circus, then 1920 circuses. . .? Do I just go with it as it could be a new idea? ADD is bad!

Well, this sounds like only something that you can control? But, I have to admit, I have enjoyed the odd wormhole in my time!

Some folks drink to excess. I too often follow-the-historical-wormhole to excess. If I reeeeeeeeally have to stay on point, I file interesting links in my miscellaneous history file to read later.

Yes, I think the more I pose this question to myself, I realize that I really need to limit my research to the basics, and then just get it down on the paper. Research a little write a lot.
