I don't remember what the settings were for "New Member" status, though I do recall it being mentioned way back when. I thought it was maybe 3 months? Surely a lot of us are no longer considered new. Not really something I care a ton about, just noticed it today and was wondering.
new members arer sub 20 posts, members are 20-100 and active are 100 plus but you don't leave the group when you fleet up to the next one - thats important because of the way xen foro allocates permissions

If I was confused by it, I have to imagine outsiders scouting the site would be too, wondering why everyone posting is a New Member. I really try to avoid, "well, at the other site.." statements, but I know for sure it's possible to have single banners that "evolve" automatically. I don't know how of course, but a big brain like ps102 probably does.
no one ever mentioned it in the history of the OG site, i'm fairly sure hardly anyone cares. we can set it to only the most senior banner, its just a tick box, but there were some issues,i can't remember exactly what they were but i remember there being a reason why we didn't
ETA: i just tried it,its a tick box for 'allow banner stacking' under options, if its not ticked it only shows the highest rank...however it screws up the display of anyone who has more than one banner like say admin and moderator, or someone whos a mini mod as well as their user rank... so we won't be doing that

Did we have multiple groups showing on the OG site? I don't recall it.
Yes we did. At one point I had six and wrey had 8
Shows I just mentally tuned it out after a while.
Must've been before my time; I only joined in late 2021 (what the hell? Less than 4 years? 
Feels like it's been a decade). I only recall there being one banner (outside of extra ones like for Mods). It went from New Member to Senior Member, and then Contributor.

I took a screen shot of my last win on the old site.
End of the day the software either allows for only one banner or all banners, there’s no option for some banners.
Since this isn’t actually causing any issues as far as I can tell we’ll leave it as it is

I've been shoehorning anything vaguely related to that into the Self-Publishing forum, but it'd be nice to have a Marketing subforum in that general area where everyone, indie or trad published, can post their questions and suggestions.
not at the moment - put it in self pub (I know trad published authors might market too but SP is the lions share of posts.)
like anything else if there's enough interest we'll split it out although i might call it something different, on the OG forum there was a big issue with the term marketing misleading people to think it was a board for marketing their books to our community

No, don't want that. Though the little rotating ads to the right were a nice perk.
