i'll certainly give her credit for a big assist... this community is great like that. ... this whole ferago has convinced me i finally need to bite the bullet and replace my laptop (its a 16 year old fujitsu lifebook which i bought for 50 quid in 2019 and put ubuntu on it... i think its finally reaching its a appointment i a little tech shop in samarra)

I’ll probably put that in the lounge guidance but tbh a lot of the paranoia about that sprang from Daniel’s fear of litigation
That aside it’s a use your common sense kind of thing… unlike the old place the rules aren’t going to try to cover every eventuality, that’s what leads to writing war and peace, anything come up that’s not covered it’ll be for staff to exercise good judgement

I'm not sure if this is intentional or not, but when using the "attach image" function:
there is a list of approved websites we can attach from, and it's pretty short. IIRC under the old forum we were encouraged to use the attach image via link rather than just pasting (which still works here) for reasons of... saving bandwidth? Or money or something? Anyway, not sure if that was a default XF2 setting or something Homer/Moose decided on.

Them not us ... its not bandwith so much as server space... here its 100GB which is ample for words, but pictures are memory hungry beasties so its our preference that you host them some where else and link them. i've a feeling you can post in code and put it inside img tags from pretty much anywhere
That’s not the attach image button bro. You can attach a still image from more or less anywhere ( sketchy sites excluded), what you are looking at is the insert media button for video files and sound clips… those sites are the only ones XF is compatible with for embedded play
You can drop links to anywhere but they won’t embed if they’re not on the approved list

The one you pasted in your post actually is the insert image icon though. The insert media button is the one to the right of the smiley, the picture on top of a film strip. It's just not the one you actually clicked on.
In the Workshop, can we get a "Literary Fiction" and (if not too much to ask) a "Slice Of Life" prefix tag(s)?

don't see why not - these prefixes are to allow us to quickly carve it up into subs when we have more content
