This thread on the old site was always a fun place to share our new acquisitions.

I have something. It's this gigantic head of curly lettuce I bought on Saturday at the farm where I get my raw milk. How on earth did they get it so big? It was over a foot across before I started making salads out of it.

Looks like I'll be making salads out of it the rest of the week.

What about you? Let's see what you have. 😊

First thing I read was 'I have something. It's this gigantic head!'

Most recently, a lot of local apple juice.
Testing photo linked from Imgur here.

Aw shucks. I've tried both 'insert image' with direct image address as well as 'media' with image link, no dice.

Hoping he enjoys it a lot.

I hope so too... he seemed excited. He has always loved reading, but likes skipping around his favourite passages rather than sitting down and just reading - probably comes of studying literature all those years ago.

Back on thread... I bought a ukulele... went to a music shop to get mini-Hammer's birthday present and ended up buying myself an early gift. Such a great way of annoying people...

A golf/hunting-style laser rangefinder to take to a nearby state park to see if I was approximately accurate in writing:

A few miles downstream, it shoaled out into rapids, widening to the length of a football field or more, and...

The stretch in question does indeed vary from 94 to 117 yards. So much easier than wading and swimming with the end of a steel measuring tape between my teeth.

I through-read maybe one out of five books on my kindle. And in a bookstore, which I prefer, I open to random spots, occasionally including the first or last few pages, and read for stylistic impressions.

I went to our town's Maker's Market today and came home with a fancy cheese (Father's Day present), a small tin of herbal muscle and joint balm, and a very pretty book sleeve.

Recently I've ordered a couple of batik fabric bundles, one of which I plan to use (some of) to make a bible cover for my mum.
