When I started out, I was aiming for venues like this. But I don't now. For one thing, not every writing credit is equal.
But more importantly, if it's a venue that accepts half of its submissions, then there's no pressure on you to improve. I mean, you could post your story on Facebook, or Wattpad and the effect is similar, plus, your being published is guaranteed.
Rejections are frustrating, but they're part of the game. It's just how the industry works. You could be Gene Wolfe, and your story could still be rejected, because it doesn't align with a magazine's aesthetics, or because they've accepted a similar story for that edition, or just because the editor stubbed his toe before reading your story. I think most of us have got to the point where rejections, even quick, form ones are neutral. Not that I'd know, I haven't had an acceptance yet.
