Reason I'm asking is I havent heard from AHMM since I posted my short story on January second. A follow-up request two weeks ago resulted in crickets. Anybody got an idea what the timescale is?
Duotrope suggests an average of 320 days for rejections. Submission Grinder says around 340 days. So 9 months is still well within range. Some outstanding submissions are listed as having waited for between 400-700 days so far.
This should probably get moved to Traditional Publishing. But yeah, if you mean the Hitchcock magazine, it's a weird outlier in that they often don't respond for a year or more. Thank the gods this is the exception rather than the rule. I submitted to them last November and finally flagged it as no response in my Duotrope tracker.
