Next on my list is the second season of Andor - one of only two Star Wars shows I feel are worth watching, the other being The Mandalorian. I'm a couple episodes in and it's been great. Solid production values, good writing, good acting. Nothing jarring or stupid that's brought me out of the experience thus far. I feel confident they will stick the landing.

After that I will get back to Severance, a fantastic show on Apple TV that had a long break from season 1. Very creative and engaging speculative fiction. There's so many great shows out there, it's tough to get to all of the best ones on my list !

Oh, and after an awesome first season of The Last of Us, I am underwhelmed, and frankly annoyed at how poor the second season has been so far. I haven't even bothered to watch last week's episode yet, but this far in I kinda feel invested enough to finish the season. But if it continues to stink, I will be bailing and avoiding the newly greenlit season 3.

Oh gosh, just loved Severance so much. I've a soft spot for dystopians but never could I have imagined that one could be so brilliant. I'm all caught up and eagerly awaiting the next season.

I also am all caught up on From. If you liked Lost, this might be a good watch for you. It's probably my all time favorite show. Frightening but man is it good.

Gotta get back to Poker Face, I just adore her wacky antics.

Probably going to rewatch The 100 again soon. I always go back to it when I need a bit of fantastical adventure in my life, even though it is a bit, idk, immature? I guess is the right wording, at least in the beginning.

I'm currently slogging my way through Fear The Walking Dead. Had watched 1st season a long time ago, but then forgot about in between seasons. What can I say, I liked it initially but they really went a complete different direction after season three.

I just began Murderbot on Appletv. I loved Alexander Skarsgard on True Blood and I'm glad to see him in something once again. Apparently show is based off of books called The Murderbot Diaries.

Anyhow, I recommend to anyone who enjoys silly scifi and androids with free will.

Watching Star Trek: The Next Generation—which, yes yes, is a party I'm supremely late to. It's my first Trek show, and I'm into the final season now. I'm gonna start a new Trek show after, not sure which one exactly. Deep Space Nine seems promising.

Oh awesome! I love TNG so much and have rewatched the series (too) many times. Got all the seasons on Blu Ray, an excellent upgrade from the VHS tapes we recorded from rabbit ears TV back in the day. It was my introduction to Trek as well, outside of the wacky original series episode we'd get on Saturdays after the cartoons were over.

DS9 is absolutely the correct choice for your next series. It's the best Trek they've ever made imo. It is still mostly episodic in the early seasons much like TNG, but there are always continuing threads between the episodes, and it's not long before it becomes a mostly serial show. It might be one of the earliest serials before pretty much everyone started doing it in the Golden Age of television. You're in for a real treat.

Also - the last episode of TNG is an all-timer. What a way to end the series with a bang.

Oh, it's so great, it has such a pitch-perfect vibe. It gets pretty cheesy at times, but in a wonderfully warm and cozy sense of the word. The first Trek thing I ever watched was, I think, the 2009 movie, and it's possible I also saw Into Darkness, those days are a bit hazy. I also tried a couple episodes of one of the newer shows, I think it was Discovery. None of that really grabbed me, but TNG did the trick. Fell in love with it pretty quickly. It's weird to feel nostalgic about something you're seeing for the first time, but somehow I do.

Happy to hear that, I've heard others say so too. I don't know much about DS9 except I guess it mostly takes place on the eponymous station? Eh, the less I know going in, the better. I'm sure I'll find new characters to love and maybe some returning favorites.

Very much looking forward to it!

I think over all as a series, DS9 is probably the best choice for most. But, imo Voyager has some of the better single episodes. I'll scroll through and skip around and be content. Some of the oddest episodes too. "The Thaw" is my favorite.

I finished a Voyager rewatch last year in anticipation of the upcoming crowd-funded documentary (backed the DS9 one too and got my name in the credits hehe). They sent me an advance digital version but I am gonna wait for my Blu Ray disc to get mailed here before I watch it.

I'm pretty confident in saying that it's my third-favourite Trek show. There are some kick ass two-parters, and excellent character development, even though they did some of those characters dirty, like Kes, Chakotay, Kim. Could've explored so much more with those fellers but the writers didn't seem to know what to do with them.

As for the newer shows, Strange New Worlds is by far the best. I tried so hard to like Discovery, but it's difficult when the main character stinks and is unrelatable and unsympathetic and frankly quite annoying. Saru was cool, though. I bailed after season 3. Picard was okay. Probably worth watching for a hardcore fan, but not for normies. The final, third season was by far the strongest - plenty of memba berries to pick there.

Oh yeah, I really dug The Expanse. I think it went on a little longer than it needed to, so I still haven't watched the final season. Been on my list for a while, but I also never watched the last season of Babylon 5.

It's like Beethoven's 9th. What came before was classic, but that final symphony was a triumph so complete that it can't possibly be forgotten. Okay, we're talking TV sci-fi here, and that's trivial in the grand scheme of things, but you know what I mean. I will say nothing of the final episode's content because I don't want to spoil it for someone who hasn't seen it. Just make sure you're ready to watch it all in one go.

That's @Night Herald , not you Set2Stun. I have a feeling you know the plot, haha. Just adding to your post.

Haha, well, now I'm properly hyped! Sold. I'll see about wrapping the show up this weekend.

Got around to it much later than I thought, but wow, you guys weren't kidding... That was spectacular! On we go to Deep Space Nine. In a day or two, maybe, no rush. I wanna digest that finale for a little bit.

I'm watching a historical reality show where a group of 3 families live as if they're 1800s settlers in the American West called "Back to the Frontier". I normally love shows like this, but my feelings about it have been lukewarm so far. A similar show from the past, "Frontier House," seemed more gritty and real.

I much preferred Enterprise over all the non-TNG series. Plus B5 over DS9.

And Discovery was... weird.

I still have Gen V to watch.

B5 is something I've really been wanting to see, but I'm not sure where to get a hold of it in my region. That and what's it's face, Battlestar Galactica? I made it a few episodes into that, seemed really promising. I just broadly speaking need my life to consist of a bit more sci-fi teevee.

I still have Gen V to watch.

That's the The Boys spin-off, right? Still have to catch the 4th season of that.

Meanwhile I'm not watching much at all. Made it to (and through) the 7th episode of DS9. Great show so far, I just don't have it in me to binge. I like it a lot, for all that it has a different flavor than TNG.

Have rebinged TNG, Voyager and DS9 while bedbound and not very with it... Voyager has some of the best episodes for that state of mind by far... Especially the lizards 😂 Gave Disco a good crack but gave up by s3. Could NOT get into Picard or Strange New Worlds at all. Enterprise... I know I watched a few but don't remember much. Just reminds me I meant to check out the new Quantum Leap. Anyone watched it? Anyone a Lower Decks fan? I've snaffled it up... By far the Star Trekkiest Star Trek I've ever watched. Manages to smoosh up the OG and the 90s era into a nice little parody that also stands on its own.

I loved the third season of Picard and the first season of SNW. The second season was a bit too silly, but I am going to watch season 3 for sure. I couldn't finish Discovery either; gave up at the same time as you. I wanted to like it so bad, but it just stinks.

I watched maybe the first 3 or 4 episodes of Lower Decks but it really rubbed me the wrong way. It's like a Rick & Morty (an awesome show) ripoff but with Trek references. I've chatted with other Trek fans who love it, but naturally they've never seen an episode of R&M.

The first two seasons of Enterprise aren't all that great, but if you stick with it, 3 and 4 are pretty damn cool.

The BBC have released their trailer for the new series based on William, Harold, and events of 1066. The one where Hayden Christensen was supposedly involved, and was meant to be a Saxon on Senlac Hill. That one. I can see what the BBC have gone for. It's a real Game of Thrones bereft of dragons but just as bloody and with far higher stakes because it's real.

But there's one thing I can't get over: the facial hair. Normans famously didn't sport it. They were renowned as fastidious in their shaving. William is always presented in sources as clean-shaven. You can see him on the Bayeux Tapestry - and he hasn't got a 'tache. Considering the Bayeux Tapestry is the best visual representation we have of William, you'd hope that the historical advisors would have made sure of this interpretation of William being in some way accurate. But no! William sports a moustache and goatee! Meanwhile, Harold - who did have a moustache according to every source we have - appears as clean-shaven.

This might feel like I'm splitting hairs, but this actually does matter in representing Saxon and Norman culture. The facial hair thing was a genuine cultural difference which made clear the shift from Saxon to Norman rule. Chroniclers discuss how hard the Normans were, and part of it was that they were clean-shaven and absolute in that. I may be commenting from a distance of 959 years, but it feels like somebody has dropped the ball if they're looking for historical accuracy. These are real basics which actually matter.
