What Are You Listening To?

This is incredible - a short, low-budget LOTR film, but with lots of heart. :)

"The Beacons! The Beacons are lit!" But how? ;)

I caught about two or three inaccuracies, and one or two things that didn't make sense. But never mind. I still enjoyed it. :)

(Oh, and -- don't miss the credits!) ;)
Only just watched this -- it was a brilliant fan piece.

I should really listen to more Black Label Society. I've always liked their sound.
Zakk sounds so much like Ozzy, which makes since he was with him for so long, but it's funny because supposedly no one sounds like Ozzy. Demonstrably not true. (I guess I should mention viewer discretion. This video is kind of gross, haha.)

Been up to my eyeballs in this whole album for a little whilethere's a wonderful music video thing called Sound and Fury on Netflix, or at least it used to be there. This song in particular is one of my favorites, it tickles some of my deeper reaches. The whole thing is worth a listen, and a watch if you're so inclined.

Whenever someone says they don't like classical music, I put this on as loudly as my ears will tolerate and I hold it in my heart very tightly. This is in my top three favorite pieces of all time.

Anyone who fails to be moved by, say, Fauré's Cantique de Jean Racine or Albinoni's Adagio in G Minor isn't worth talking to.

Or take, for instance, Fauré's Pavane (Op. 50) -- not his most important work (that would be the Requiem), but one of the most gorgeous:

What beauty, what delicacy -- what refinement! Fauré's music can touch anyone's heart, and these young performers do it justice. They are the Vengerovs of tomorrow.

(But then, how dare I forget Barber's Adagio for Strings? Or Purcell's When I Am Laid in Earth? Or Handel's Zadok the Priest?

Too much good music, too little time!) :)

I have been listening to this on a regular basis for the past seven years. It's from a game, but the funny part is that I have actually never played the game. I don't even know how I found it. The correct answer is that it probably found me somehow.

I really have no words to describe it. It's truly beautiful and original. Nothing even comes close to what it does. I love how tranquil the melody is at the beginning, and how it gradually turns more turbulent until it's chaotic and powerful, then tranquil and calm once again for the final act. I love instrumental music. I really, really love to hear instruments work together to form melody.

The composer's name is Yoko Shimomura. I wish I could thank her personally for this masterpiece. It's truly wonderful.
