This song sounds like life in the mines, when the workers were housed in company housing and worked in the mines from dawn to dusk under dangerous conditions.

Instead of cash, they were paid in company scrip that could only be spent in the company store. But they weren’t paid enough to cover expenses, and the company extended credit and kept them in debt.

At last unions began in the north and spread to the south, which greatly improved conditions for the workers. :)

Where have I heard this before? Some movie, I think.
It sounds like Cab Calloway, or like a song by him originally. That's exactly the timbre he'd use.

That's a famous song that has been redone in every genre imaginable. Not sure what that SG copy he has is, but it's got some cool inlays.

I'm not sure if you've seen this before, but it's worth a repost! :)

(I'm ashamed to say how many references I completely understood, thanks to years of playing Civilization, Age of Empires, and Total War games, and reading loads and loads of history) ;)

So ... I just watched "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" ... for the first time. (Yes, I had a deprived teenagerhood. ;-P But at least I was familiar with "Time Warp", and wrote a parody of it, so there's that. But it's the first time I saw the whole thing, because I thought it was a horror movie ... title and all that).

All I can say is: what. (But in a good way). It's a wild ride, jaw-droppingly hilarious. The acting is great, the singing ... well, it's not always clear what the words are (especially when Colombia is singing -- her vocal chords feel a bit "pressed", I guess) ... but for this movie, it works. And of course, Tim Curry steals every scene he's in.

And yes, it's obvious why this was rated R. But so what. ;-P

P.S. Did I mention it was hilarious? 😄

Oh, and yes: both the scientist and his "creature" die on the end. I suppose it was inevitable. Poor Victor and Adam, er, Frank and Rocky. Even their deaths were incredibly similar: Victor and Adam die in an inferno, and here, they die of laser-related injuries. (Sorry if that's obvious to everyone else. I just thought about that). ;)

Been listening to this this morning. catchy tune. it's got over a billion views
