What are you reading?

Currently 220-odd pages deep in Stephen King's The Dead Zone, only my second King novel so far, the first being 11.22.63

Next up will be The Stand which is a door stop of a book and might take me until next year to complete

Wayward by Blake Crouch. It's the second book from The Wayward Pines series. I read the first one after watching the 1st season of the show, so the big reveal came as no surprise. That said, it was still an awesome read. Heart pounding at times, good mix of dystopian and sci-fi.

Not that far into the second book, but I'm enjoying it so far.

After a bit of a hiatus, I returned to El Borak and Other Desert Adventures, a collection of short fiction starring Robert E. Howard’s adventure heroes El Borak, Kirby O’Donnell, and Steve Clarney. I finished “Hawk of the Hills” last night, and now I’m on to “Blood of the Gods”.

Finished “Blood of the Gods” last night, and this passage stuck out to me, because it’s an almost perfect embodiment of the classic advice to make your characters want something, even if it’s just a glass of water:

“He slipped the limp bags from his shoulder, cocked his rifle and went forward to kill or be killed—not for gold, nor the love of a woman, nor an ideal, nor a dream, but for as much water as could be carried in a goatskin bag.”

Finished His Black Tongue yesterday, and today's audiobook was Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and learned a shit ton about something I didn't know was still a modern problem.
