What made me happy today?

I hope fervently that all the dead ones will be returned to their families soon, too, so they can have proper closure.
Agreed! I hope the living and the dead are treated with respect following their return home. I hope their families find comfort in their memories.

I solved a forty year old riddle today. I knew the Thai rendition of a Japanese character name from a Chinese wuxia TV series that came out in 1979. The name sounded nothing like Japanese name. So I had to back-form it from Thai into Teochew (the Chinese dialect spoken in Thailand), back into Cantonese (the original broadcast language) to get the characters, then use the characters in Japanese to figure out the character's supposed Japanese name, thus converting "Tian Hong Jap See Nung" to "Amatsuka Juushirou". It's been bugging me quite a few years now (although not quite since 1979). Thanks ChatGPT!

I started to post in the "what made me unhappy" thread. Yet another apocalyptic AI video popped up in my YouTube feed.

Then, it hit me. The whole world will never replace humans with AI. Criminal organizations will never be able to tolerate the privacy drain and implied oversight of AI.

What a relief. All I need to do is learn how to twirl my mustache and master an evil chuckle. Anyone know any arch fiends currently hiring word nerds?

Asking for a friend...

Being a baritone-bass with twenty years' experience (and emphasis on bass), I mastered the evil chuckle years ago. But alas, I have no moustache. Perhaps I should grow one to go with the mwahaha. :devilish:

Peanut butter!!!!!

Good quality? Or just any old peanut butter? ;)

If you're ever in Australia, try Mayver's. It's a very simple recipe (roasted peanuts and sea salt ... and nothing else), and has a strong, nutty flavor. Yummo. :)

The best peanut butter has no ingredients other peanuts and salt. No added oils, sugars, or dairy. Just peanuts and salt. ;)

Peanut butter!!!!!

All right, if we're just going to name random foods: mmm ... peanut-butter and bacon sandwich!!! </Homer Simpson drool> ;-P

I'm so close to being finished with the line edits on this manuscript. Then I'll be going through the word document to make the changes. I got a cover design started yesterday after some suggestions from some friends, and I'm really really pleased with the feedback on it. It's a very real life possibility I'll have it all set to go before the end of the month.

Dog V4 farting and wagging his tail at the same time. Surprisingly musical.

Ooh, nice plot twist! Most people seem to want to write posts that are like a breath of fresh air.

This post really would like a breath of fresh air!

So unique, so... just a sec, my window is stuck... so organic!

Your posts are as refreshing as a farting dog in a room full of fresh air. ;)

One of the essays I wrote will probably be published (they told me to use the expression "paper" rather than "essay"), it was a requirement for the course I am enrolled in. Few months ago I submitted a play for a theatre program but received the rejection. I feel like writing few scenes for a play or script these days/nights. Was thinking about joining The November Writing Thing but I'll probably be reading and taking notes in November. Happy November Writing though.

The wisdom teeth who were the source of the dental drama I mentioned earlier in this thread came out without a hitch today! By the time the appointment rolled around, the left one was just barely erupted, so I’m glad I had it checked out back in September; it wouldn’t have taken long to become serious trouble.

We also went ahead and took out the last one, on the upper right.

At the moment, I feel almost normal, but that’s probably the hydrocodone talking. Still, both teeth and their roots were smaller than the bottom ones, so it shouldn’t take as long to recover.

Sounds good, X Equestris. I hope the recovery process is quick and painless for you. :)

I am going to meet our president today:

But ... how? Why? *confused* I don't know many senior politicians who are so open to the public. (Most of ours avoid the general public completely, until it's election time). Maybe things are different in the Czech Republic? :)

Good luck, DoctoreX! I don't know much about Petr (beyond what I've read about him in his wikipedia article, and who knows how accurate that is?) ... but based on the wiki-article, it sounds like I'd broadly agree with his stance on most issues.

The guy who walks Dog V4 has two of the same breed (and the same colour scheme).

One of them has heart failure. A scan has revealed his heart is getting stronger though he's far from out of the woods yet.

But I am sure they're both still very good boys. When their time comes, this is what they'll see ...
