Your Writing Feats

I've wanted to design and write video game plots as well. Seems fun. How did they find you?

It was kinda happenstance. I randomly got to talking with a game dev, helped him out with some critique and editing of text he was working on, then he recommended I apply for a job where an associate of his was doing a project and needed a writer. I got that job, then later it turned out the guy who did the art for that project had his own game studio and needed some writing done, and I got recommended. I guess the moral of the story is networking is important, and that if you do somebody a small favor good things might come your way.

Congrats, that’s a tough field to break into!

Thanks! I didn't break into it so much as stumble, I got lucky.

Video game writing is something I'd love to do more of, it puts a whole other spin on the creative process. Just working in someone else's universe is a challenge and opportunity for growth.

I've been working on a considerably longer story than the short backstories or RPG posts I do. So far, it's going well and I'm mostly happy with how it's going. I'm even more happy that I'm working on it in the first place, let alone got to chapter 3 with it (around 10k words or so), because I typically struggle so much to put my thoughts down. It's a story about a spooky iced-over forest. 🌲

My biggest feat is that I just finished my 5th fantasy novel. It was by far my largest project. My biggest novel before this one was just over 66K words. But this one came it at 95K words. I was pretty overwhelmed as I worked on it because of the sheer size and scope of the project but in the end I am really happy with how it turned out.

Now I have one last novel to do in this series to complete my 6 book series. I have many other stories planned for this world so I will be involved in it for quite sometime.
