I've never PoWri anything before, but if there's enough interest, we could do it here? NWT did well last year...NaPoWriMo
I've completed it a few times and managed partial participation many more and always find something new or interesting in the trying. At best, I'll probably manage a handful of days this year but I'm going to try... anyone else?
Sounds like you've just volunteered yourself to try it this year! I've NoWried a couple of times but lose interest too fast but PoWri keeps me coming back. I like the prompts and seeing how different people interpret them, especially when there's a form to manipulate. It'd be nice to have a bit of community to come to though and check in with people each day.I've never PoWri anything before, but if there's enough interest, we could do it here? If others are interested, I don't see why not. I guess we'd just make an area and everyone can start their own thread and post their poem daily poem. Or every few days or whatever. I can wire the threads so they can't be responded to if needed. If not, people will be jumping in for critique just like with The Showcase.Sounds like you've just volunteered yourself to try it this year! Whether you’re just learning about Na/GloPoWriMo or returning for the umpteenth time, the idea is simple: Write a poem a day for the month of April. That’s thirty days, thirty poems. That’s the only rule! (And if you break it, remember — there are no poetry police. No one will come hunt you down. It’s fine. This is all for fun!)
To help you along, we’ll be posting a prompt every day through the month, along with a special “early-bird” prompt on March 31, to help tide over all those on the other side of the international date line from Na/GloPoWriMo headquarters, and for whom April begins a few hours earlier than it does here in Maine, USA.
Could put a subforum into the poetry forum with a pinned general post explaining what it is and then yes, people could set up their own threads to post each day within that. I, personally, would keep it open to comments on the understanding that people are posting drafts, effectively. If others are interested, I don't see why not. Let's see how much interest there is. I'm not a poet but there are plenty here. We've got about a week and it won't take more than a few minutes to set up.
Yeah they link to participant sites and I think there's a fb group but no local or smaller groups or forums or the like.
I tagged here with the @name function so she'd see it. Not sure if she's a poet or not, but there doesn't seem to be much interest so far. I'd think the frequent flyers like @Riddley Walker @Masonic Mallam @moharram @athousandsorrows @Heartlet Happer might be more interested. I tagged them as well. No biggie either way.Wonder if the forum member @Tallyfire would like this challenge, she suggested the previous one, I've never heard of it before.
I like the idea of NaPoWriMo but like with the NaNoWriMo (The November Writing Thing) I'm unclear if I'll have enough time (and skills?) to write a poem per day.
Haha. Could you even lower that hand if you wanted?Raises hand.
I would say she was primarily interested in writing novels but some of the stories she posted had poetic flair. And maybe @JLT and @Rath Darkblade who I think won few poetry contests. Other types of writers could be interested too, I remember @Luxuria 's posts in NWT thread. In November there was a lot of members online and the participants seemed really excited about the challenge.I tagged here with the @name function so she'd see it. Good eye. And don't let the rollercoaster curve fool you, the range axial range is only a factor of 10 people or so, which is less than 15%.I would say she was primarily interested in writing novels but some of the stories she posted had poetic flair. Thanks for the mention, and yeah! I am honestly more interested in writing novels, than poetry. So, maybe we could do a combo event of Writing Thing and Poetry Thing? I love challenges, but I am not really a poet. (User Icon aside.)I would say she was primarily interested in writing novels but some of the stories she posted had poetic flair. Yeah if the organizers agree. I can't say I'm a poet either but the dialogue in the plays can sometimes be poetic and I ocassionally try to write in verse. And I remember liking one or few of JT Woody's poems. Thanks for the mention, and yeah! I am honestly more interested in writing novels, than poetry.
